Grand Master Tchezzarus
Ok so : -a GKT squad of 4 mens + justicar is XXX points, -aditional GKT are YYY points, -Thawn is ZZZ points... So is a 5 men GKT squad including Thawn : XXX + ZZZ points or XXX +ZZZ -YYY Points? I'm not sure because in my dex Thawn is not an option for the squad of +ZZZ points, but a straight ZZZ points. Thanks for your help, Tchezz. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226030-thawn-question/ Share on other sites
Whitefireinferno
XXX+ZZZ and + for YYY you pay for squad then pay for thawn then same cost for buying the other 5 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226030-thawn-question/#findComment-2706356 Share on other sites
hmk17
Thawn is a character upgrade ala Arjac Rockfist and Lukas the Trickster. You pay the base points for the squad (XXX) THEN add Thawn's upgrade cost (ZZZ) to that. So XXX+ZZZ. If you want more guys, you pay for them as needed. They do not impact the cost of Thawn. Grand Master Tchezzarus
Wow! That make him a REALLY EXPENSIVE option! Thanks for clearing that for me. Vindicatus
Really expensive (about the same as an Apoth for Paladins), however, depending on your rolls and how much you're getting shot at, he can make his points back really quick just by standing back up again and harrassing your enemy further. Zerodyme
Hm, that's odd... I thought it would be the base cost +Thawns points too. But when I asked my local GW Manager yesterday, he said, Thawn would only cost hist points, and would not be considered an upgrade. He also said, this would be the way they handle it in tournaments a.s.o. in this store... I was surprised, but everyone here seems to agree that his points represent an upgrade, not a replacement. Confusion :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226030-thawn-question/#findComment-2706478 Share on other sites
Vindicatus
Odd..the way I understood it from reading was that you pay 200 points for 4 schmoes and a Justicar, then paid the cost for Thawn, who replaced the Justicar as the leader of the unit. Guess this will just have to be something else figured out by the surely mad-scrambling FAQ team. Gentlemanloser
The GW manager has it wrong. You need to upraged an existing Justicar to get Thrawn. And Thrawns listed cost is the cost of doing so. Yep, he works exactly the same as Arjac in the SW codex. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226030-thawn-question/#findComment-2706527 Share on other sites

Irbis
Speaking of Thawn, can you add Psycannon to him to make him that much more dangerous? Terminator entry says one Terminator can exchange their SB for PC, does that include Thawn who is normal member of the unit? Gentlemanloser
Sadly not, as the Justicar can't be given one of those upgrades, and Thrawn comes with his own gear, that can't be changed anyway. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226030-thawn-question/#findComment-2706969 Share on other sites
Irbis
Hm. Not even mastercrafted? But he should keep psybolt ammo if the squad was bought with it, even if he separated?
