Gentlemanloser
Would it be silly (I know it would be detrimental in Kill Point games! ;)) to take multiple single mini Paladin units? Potentially with Draigo to take up to six of them? Your Troops requirements would be easily filled, allowing you to spend the majority of your points on Purifiers, Interceptors, NDKs and Dreads. But what benefit is there for having them as the base unit of one? Multiple units casting Holocaust. Multiple S5 Large Blasts being thrown out. A single Pally with a Master Crafted Hammer is 60 points. Is this a silly idea? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226078-multiple-single-mini-paladin-units/ Share on other sites

But, their 3++ and special rules do help. Maybe take Warding Staves to not have them evaporated from every single S8+ CC weapon? Gentlemanloser
Warding Staff and Apothecary to make them more in line wiht the Lone Wolves! :D But that's making them quite expensive now! :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226078-multiple-single-mini-paladin-units/#findComment-2707056 Share on other sites
marine77
I don't think they would work as well as Lone Wolves or single Thunderwolves would. It is a nice idea, but having only a single model sitting on an objective would be asking for trouble in my opinion. Perhaps I could see taking them if you had 1-2 alongside larger units. 6 singles would be fun for a laugh, but that is exactly what they would be, a laugh. If running Draigo, I would take 1-2 and then filling out the rest of your troops with terminators. number6
I had this thought myself. But the reason Lone Wolves work is because of their 3++ save. A warding stave does nothing against AP2+ shooting. And since almost all those kinds of shots also cause instant death -- heck, an unlucky throw of a 1 against a krak missile -- spells the end of your "Lone Paladin". Another instance where I think GW missed the boat. If you're going to allow a unit size of 1 model, at least make that 1 model viable! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226078-multiple-single-mini-paladin-units/#findComment-2707968 Share on other sites
Oiad
One of the biggest letdowns with the rules was the exclusion of Storm Shields. I guess the inclusion of 2W with FnP is already meant to be scary enough, let alone adding 3++. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226078-multiple-single-mini-paladin-units/#findComment-2708019 Share on other sites
