mister_wolf
Just started using battle chronicler to do batreps from my league games. This is the bat rep of me vs Orkz (Chris Miller), I originally put it up on my clubs website but I figured the fine people of B&C might enjoy it as well :) Sorry if some of the tags aren't too clear! On the marines CS stands for Combat Squad A,B,C,D etc. Mission: Capture and Control 1500pts (Objectives marked as skulls on map) Deployment: Spearhead Deployment: Orks: Warboss Badgas, Big Mek, 10 Burna Boyz, 12 Ard Boyz, 10 Nobz, 3 Killa Kanz, 20 Ork Boyz, 2 Trukkz and 1 Battlewagon Space Marines Chaplain /w Jump Pack, 9 Assault Marines, 4 Flamer and Missile Launcher Tac Squads, 1 Melta-gun and Multi-Melta Tac Squad (all combat-squadded), 2 five man Devastator Squads /w 4 Missile Launchers http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Deployment.jpg The marines deployed first, setting up a killzone around my objective in the middle of the highway with my chaplain and the assault squad held back in reserve. The dev's were deployed on top of a building overlooking the objective with the heavy weapon combat squads on the lower floor. The special weapon combat squads deployed in front of the building and on the road. The orkz then deployed with the ard boyz and nobz in the two trukks on the road alongside the burna boyz in the battlewagon. The normal boyz mob sat on the ork objective at the back of their deployment zone alongside the kanz. Miller then went to steal the initiative and duly rolled a 6 prompting much cursing from my side of the table! Turn 1: Revving their engines and shouting their cockney battle cries the three ork vehicles barrelled down the road loosing off a few ineffective shots at the marine lines. The kanz and boyz on the ork objective sitting tight anticipating an assault from the chaplain and assault squad at some point. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Marineturn1.jpg In response the marine combat squads pounced forward looking to put a serious dent in the ork advance. The devastators and combat squads with heavy weapons opened up on the trukks, eventually cutting through the KFF and sending both vehicles flying, the nobz landing just behind the battlewagon and the ard boyz landing on the objective, in front of 30+ marines... http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/MarineTurn1end.jpg After plenty of bolter rounds and 2 flamers four of the ard boyz were left standing before being charged by one of the tac combat squads led by a powerfist wielding sergeant and were promptly finished off taking down one tac marine as they went. Turn 2: Enraged at having to walk the rest of the way Badgas and his Nobz began slogging through the wreckage of their trukk calling their waaagh as they went. The battlewagon plunged into the marine lines with its deff rolla whirring crushing one unfortunate marine as it went with the rest of his squad diving out of the way. As the squad was getting back to its feet the burna boyz mounted in the back of the wagon hosed them down and turning the squad to charred ruins. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Orkzturn2.jpg After those fireworks from the burnaz they became target number one as 12 missile launchers and a multi-melta all took aim at the now exposed battlewagon. But thanks to some awful rolling on my part and the KFF all I managed to do was immobilise the thing. The powerfist wielding tac sgt jumped in to see if he could do any better and needing 6's to hit he just about managed one hit but in an instant response of karma rolled a 1 on the damage chart to only stun it. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/MarineTurn2.jpg Turn 3: The burna boyz were forced to jump out of the battlewagon if they wanted to do anything due to the stunned result which they promptly did, eyeing up the powerfist sgt as they disembarked. On the other side of the battlewagon Badgas and the nobz finally made it into striking distance of the marine lines opening up with his skorcha on the multi-melta combat squad killing two. Using combat tactics (best rule ever!) I chose to fail their morale check and they just about fell back out of assault range to leave badgas and the nobz out in the open. The burnaz then jumped in and massacred the powerfist sgt and what was left of his squad. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/OrkzTurn3.jpg So with the battlewagon immobilised on my objective and the burnaz and nobz in my lines the chaplain and his assault marines finally chose to show up coming on from my table edge and flying straight at badgas and the nobz. The remaining flamer wielding combat squads closed in on the burnaz intent on giving them a dose of their own medicine. Opening up with their flamer they managed to chargrill 5 of them with the bolters finishing the rest of the mob off. The battlewagon shrugged off a few more krak missiles before the rest of the marines poured their fire into badgas and the nobz but thanks to the KFF and FNP only 3 of the buggers went down. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Marineturn3shooting.jpg Undeterred the chaplain and assault marines charged, intent on bringing the big warboss down. A flurry of assorted blows rained down from both sides with chainswords, crozius, poisoned weapons, power fists and klaws all flying about. When the dust settled both the Chaplain and Badgas had been taken off as casualties leaving a handful of assault marines including the powerfist sergeant to battle it out with the big mek, the painboy and 2 nobz. Meanwhile some of the tac marines attempted unsuccessfully to attach krak grenades to the now seemingly invincible battlewagon that was still immobilised on the objective. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Marineturn3assault.jpg Turn 4: With the Kanz and Boyz still on the ork objective on the other side of the board, the battlewagon immobilised and the nobz stuck in combat Chris' 4th turn was pretty short. Jumping straight to the assault phase although in the shooting phase he did manage to re-mobilise the battlewagon thanks to the efforts of the grots on board. In the combat between the nobz and assault squad both sides continued to pound eachother with the assault marines dying to a man but managing to take down the pain boy and the klaw nobz leaving the big mek as the sole survivor who quickly consolidated towards the battlewagon. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Orkzturn4.jpg With the threat on their own objective gone the marines opened up on the boyz sitting on the ork objective across the board sending 10 frag missiles flying towards them. Thanks to them being spread out and their cover saves I only managed to down 8 of the blighters though. The tattered remnants of the combat squads who received the ork charge managed to bring the big mek down to one wound but once again failed to scratch the battlewagon. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Marineturn4.jpg Turn 5: Ork turn 5 and the boyz on the objective unsuccessfully tried to scramble out of LOS of the 12 missile launchers pointed at them whilst the wounded big mek dived into the newly mobile battlewagon moved off the objective as it brought its deff rolla to bear on the marines milling about it causing one squad to flee off the table, oops. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Orkzturn5.jpg Going for the win the marines carried on unloading missiles into the boyz mob downing another 7 and forcing a morale check which chris promptly passed rolling a double 1. One of the tac squads again failed to krak grenade the battlewagon. Rolling to see if the game ended I rolled a 1 to bring the game to a premature end and what I thought was a draw only to find that I had to be 3" from the objective where I'd thought I had to be 6". Because I'm a plank! It turned out I was 4" away from my objective so I had snatched defeat from the jaws of er... parity? http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/holey1337/Marinesturn5.jpg A good game and a lesson in objectives I'll never forget <_< C&C welcome, especially from anyone who's used battle chronicler before, still feeling the program out so any tips would be appreciated! Tech Brother Torgo
I agree, that looks like a handy piece of software! Interesting battle there. I don't think I've ever seen marines outnumber orkz before... I'm a little surprised he didn't charge everything forward though given you're general lack of mobility. Having those kanz and an extra blob of boyz might have helped his assault go a little bit better. Nice report!
