Order of the Crimson Tear

Welcome to the hobby and gaming. Great looking army, good tidy lines, nice highlights. Only criticism is the Rhino front looks to have an over wipe or two of wash on the lower front. GW vehicle kits are pretty rudimentary affairs when it comes to fitting a little green stuff can help hide those annoying gaping joints. As for 'nozzle burn' on flamers/meltas I dry brush the tip of the nozzle with scorched brown then mix black all the way to a black tip.

Thanks for your comments guys. It's good to hear feedback whether good or bad and helps me so thanks! =)

I'm working on a canoness conversion atm.. might be afew days till its right though, because it will be my first greenstuff attempt, and while the plan is pretty simple, might take a few tries for me to get used to the stuff.

Nice GS work, good and smooth. The Fleur De Lys is very good can't see her other leg in the shot, looks like she's squatting from the front.

Her other leg is bent also but thats one of the problems with working with all metal... to change the other leg would have been serious work, which i wasnt prepared to or experienced enough to do =)

ThanksCrusader & Nirach =) In truth, my patience sometimes slides =p But i guess im pretty patient in general.

I've been testing gold recipes today, and whilst its not finished, or perfected (or highlighted yet heh) I can see its coming out alot richer with this method... What do you think?

Im intending to use it for my character models, as its taking quite alot longer than my normal troop method. I was about to start the highlights, when a package i'd been waiting for arrived, which destroyed my plans to try and finish it this afternoon, as i was so excited (quite worryingly so actually) to mock up what will be my living saint....

Before i got the pieces, i was worried the backpack might look wrong, but i actually quite like it. I also received a set of pegasus wings but they didnt look right in my eyes (ive seen quite afew conversions with them on celestine which havent "wowed" me).... What do you think? is the pack too big?

The Gold looks pretty solid to me .. I've been playing around with gold lately as well so I know it's a pain haha .. But there is a lot of light depth in there so far so I give it the thumbs up .. nice work all in all :whistling:

Well its a very rough recipe atm, but it was basically,

white primer

2 coats - 1 part [GW]Snakebite Leather : 2 parts [VGC]Polished Gold ( this colour of this looks rather discusting and odd when it goes on)

4 coats - [VGC]Polished Gold (EDIT: pain in the rear, because this particular paint will seperate when you thin it this much, ended up stiring after every other paint load. But decided to stic with it. I wanted it as smooth as possible, as im new to glazing, and wanted to set up as smoother surface as possible for next steps)

Then i started applying thinned Sepia wash (about 1 part wash 2 parts water). This was more of a glaze tbh, but i tried to let it pool a little in the recesses. Same again with devlan mud in more shaded areas. Then Glaze the whole lot with sunburst yellow (this changes the look of it alot, so be careful)

And after that i started with leviathan purple in shadow and certain places like lower legs, under her....cups (doesnt show up well in the pic).

And the highlighting to come. Thinking on it now, i'll probably have to half the glazing again now once high lights are done. Next time might have to rethink the order i do it. Silly me heh. Should be done tomorrow, and ill make sure the colours are exact in the pic when it is done.

Thanks again for comments. I do appreciate them. Great for motivation.

Finished the gold test... here's the result..

Full Recipe -

White primer

1 part [GW]Snakebite Leather : 2 parts [VGC]Polished Gold

[VGC]Polished Gold till even

Highlight by adding mithril. (I'm going to be doing this before shadows/glazing)

Shading - thinned Sepia, thinned Devlan

Glazing - Sunburst Yellow all over (obviously very thin, i think i did 2, maybe 3 glazes.... its not exact, just stop when i looks right to you)

Leviathan Purple in deep shadows, also 1-2 glazes in not-so-deep shadows (lol, cant think how to word it)

Think thats it. You might want to redo a couple of the extreme highlights after all that.

Working on the Canoness now.

Dont know what i was thinking with the highlight on her right knee, safe to say its very wrong. Should only be a minor high not pure mithril.. =p

Thanks for comments, Canoness coming along nicely.
