Order of the Crimson Tear

Update time! Whilst it may not look like i've done much, if you consider the amount of details on sister models, it actually takes a whole bunch of time.

Approx. 80 Fleur de Lys, 30 Skulls and 25 " I-quila's", plus all the faces and lenses later, it shouldnt be long before these gals are done.

Some things arn't perfect, but i now understand that for me, if i want an army done some time this century, i'm gunna have to stop at "good enough" sometimes.

Even though you say they may not be at a very high standard, I would tend to disagree. Compared to the majority of armies out there (and many aren't even painted! The heresy!), you have done an excellent job and you've painted your sisters to a higher standard than most. Yes, there are some armies that have been built and painted with more skill and to a higher standard, but there's always going to be someone who does things better and to be honest, your army is one of my favourites because of the skill, dedication and love for the hobby that you display :(

So good luck with finishing them off and thank you very much for having shared these pictures of your army with us :) I personally really appreciate it!

Cheers,

Ludovic

@Zhoolda - Thanks! =) When i painted the test model, i liked it, and a friend said to me "a whole army like that would look epic!". I'm starting to see what he means now i have alot of the infantry done (or close to it). I'm really liking the look of them all together.

@Ludovic - Your point about the none painted armies out there is exactly how i feel =p Not that I wouldn't play someone purely because their army wasn't painted, or anything crazy like that, but i personally refuse to play with unpainted stuff. This is also a major flaw for me lol. I still haven't played a proper game of 40k because of it. Also thanks for your kinda words. I'm really enjoying blogging my progress =)

Same here. Which is partly why I haven't got an army yet: I just can't find time to paint all of the models :) And I don't have enough of them. And I'm very undecisive.

And I'm really enjoying watching your progress :)

Refusing to play with unpainted stuff isn't a flaw - just proof of your devotion to army and Emperor! It should be no other way ;)

Your army looks great, your "good enough" is markedly better than mine - the sisters will certainly look impressive on the table top. I've been inspired to pick up a paint brush again! Sadly not for sisters, my enthusiasm has sadly waned since the WD codex :)

I look forward to seeing more updates ;)

@Warriorfish - I had that shortly after the WD release. But tbh, the plan is to redo all the infantry when plastics come out anyway. And use this lot for larger games.

Here is what we are lookin at now. I'm really happy with it =D Sorry for poor images, i'll get better ones later. Too late to set everything up now.

Fortunately I have other armies and plenty of models to work on to keep me busy until sisters finally get the love they deserve. Your army will surely be ready for the table soon, I'd really love to see a battle report with pictures when they're done to "complete" the journey so to speak.

You just can't beat seeing a fully painted army take to the table top. Looks great even with my average painting talents!

@Razblood - I get quite frustrated when i can't do something the way i want... I've just gotta keep trying i guess? Thanks for your interest!

@Warriorfish - I can't wait for that day! I've been collecting games workshop stuff for about a year now, and still havent had the "omg, i finished an army" buzz. And i also cant wait for a proper SoB codex!

Slow progress on the tanks. Reason being im trying new things. The immolator earlier in the thread was my first tank, and whilst i was ok with it, the weathering did drive me a bit crazy. I've seen good results from the hairspray technique, and wanted to try it.

The Rhino on the left was the first try, with salt. Lets just say i dont like it much. I put too much salt on, and the tools i used (alot of toothbrush) left the paint damage in massive area's and it was very hard to control. I also disliked the colour coming through once the gold had been chipped off.

The Rhino on the right was my second try which i think is more what i wanted in the first place. I didnt use salt on this one and i darkened the brown undercoat.. I also used smaller tools (toothpick, the tip of a file, and my sculpting tool) to gain alot more control over the marks i was leaving. If i used salt again, i think i could control it alot better, but i think i'd rather not use it at all.

Just thought i'd share my experiments into tank painting!

Only just discovered this thread and i really like what i see! I have an old, dormant Sister's army so it's great to see such a well painted army all new and fresh. A gold armour Sister force looks awesome and i look forward to seeing your Living Saint all painted up!

I'm actually really glad I finally got my sister bug back.

YAY!

I just caught up with the blog today and am so glad you didn't drop your girls.

I feel like the only one who actually likes the new "Codex"......

Getting back to the original quote, I myself have also gotten the "bug" and started buying up E-Bay lots of Sisters.

Keep up the good work!

Thankyou all for comments! I took a small break from sisters to paint up my 6-weekly Dark eldar unit, but will be back working on the tanks tomorrow.

I've built my 2 Exorcists, so the first job is to get the gold and weathering done on those. Then i can continue on all the tank's at once (except Jacobus Rhino). I really like the exorcists turrets!

@Olisredan Nurgle, eww!

@MordentHex Orks, eww!

@WarriorFish Your tanks, eww! heh, just kidding! =p

@Arkaniss Want to get Living Saint done too.... Still havent decided to do NMM or not yet... maybe i'll do one of each... one for display (cause i got a better conversion idea in mind), and my current one for gaming in normal metalics... hmmm hmm.

Have fun guys!

How goes it S'jet? Any new pictures?

I'll be popping into my local GW soon to pick up some of the new paints and I might even break out one of the old SoB models and see if I can update it. I'm interested in this new white paint that's supposed to be awesome as white was always a pain to paint!

Which neatly brings me to my next question: are you going to use any of the new paints with your army?
