killersquid
Played another game with my Daemonhunters. Same army as before, however i realized I was 60pts short as I forgot to include my barrage bomb in the previous game. My List. Grand Master Deko Grey Knight Squad Milavac x10 x2 psycannons Grey Knight Squad Latko x10 x2 psycannons Grey Knight Squad Boreko x8 x2 Incinerators Brother Peter, (GreyKnight Dreadnought W/Lascannon and Missile Launcher.) Landraider Crusader. Barrage Bomb His list had the following. Command Squad with Master of the Fleet. Ratling squad of three. Veteran squad with gernade launchers and autocannon. Veteran squad with two/three meltaguns and a missile launcher in a chimera (multi-laser heavy bolter). Infantry platoon. (Command squad Two infantry squads (no upgrades)). Banewolf with hull flamer. Vanquisher with Pask. Exterminator with hull lascannon and heavy bolter sponsons. Leman Russ with hull lascannon and heavy bolter sponsons. Heavy Weapon squad with three Heavy Bolters Heavy Weapon squad with Three lascannons. The table was well covered in hills and ruins. His edge was dominated by a Ruin in the top right, and a settlement to the left. I had a bunker-like thing to my right, ruin in the middle and hills in between. Mission was Capture and Control with Pitched Battle Deployment. I won the first turn roll, but I decided that going second in objective games is pretty handy. Plus, I find it helpful to deploy adapting to his deployment. My objective is in the bottom middle/left of my zone (green flag), his is behind the tower ruin in the right side of his deployment zone. He has pask on the far right, battle cannon russ on the far left and the exterminator, chimera (with vets) and banewolf in the middle. One infantry squad sits on the far left, while the rest of the army huddles in the middle/right of his deployment zone. Lascannons are in the front, while his second vet squad and heavy bolters guard on my right flank. His command squads are both hidden behind the building in his zone. Ratling infiltrate onto the ledge on the ruin. I deploy cautiously, with much caution. Raider with Deko and Squad Boreko tuck it's self cowardly next to a ruin in fear of Pask, while the dread sneaks in beside. Squad Milivac was given objective duety. I kept them tucked behind the ruin, but left their pyscannons sticking as far forward as I could (for maximum exposure). Squad Latko was given footslogging duity. I figure against an army I need to run at myself, I need as many bodies crossing no mans land as I could. I kept them to the right (Plan to advance them to the right of the ruins) Their job was to take out the Vet squad and/or the Heavy Bolter squad. Perhaps even make it to the objective. I had most of my hope in Squad Boreko to do most of the heavy lifting. Considering they'll get to combat first. The ship in orbit trained it's bomb bays onto the tower ruin his army was huddled around. I felt I had more to fear from it's shooting then he did however. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/Untitled_Panorama1-1.jpg Turn 1. So, failing to steal the Initative again, the guard player begun. Characteristically he didn't move anything. Shrouding really did dick all, as he rolled spectacularly with his leman russ exterminator and Vet's squad, lighting up squad Latko and killing four guys from it. Sigh. The Guard commander fortunatlly choked while giving his orders, so the lascannon squad failed to get off "Fire on my Target", but still managed to blow the multi-melta off the raider. Pask's fire was negated VIA effective use of cover. The Leman Russ fired at my Raider in an effort to get the shot to scatter onto Squad Milivac, and it did, imploding one grey knight. On my turn, the Raider trudged forwards, dread snuck into the building and Squad Latko advanced. Squad Latko eliminated the Rattling snipers (I really dislike them), while squad Milivac silenced the lascannon squad with their psycannon. The dread attempted to ker-plunk the Chimera, but was distracted by a sparrow somewhere and accomplished nothing. Turn 2. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0672.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0671.jpg The Guard didn't really move again (I'm sure something did, but it hardly matters). Pask was determained to make himself worthwhile, so blew up my poor dreadnaught. Thankfully, he didn't do any more damage to my raider. Assorted ranged shooting penetrated Squad Latko's shrouding and dropped them down to three models. On my turn, my barrage bomb failed to start fireing (Damn you master of the fleet!). Squad Latko hustled towards my opponents right corner and eilinated his command squad (except for a company commander who was hugging the dirt). Squad Milivac attempted to put some heat on the Chimera, but failed to hurt it's armour. The 'Rader trudged forwards a bit more, and Deko hopped out. My goal was for him to destroy the Exterminator russ, but he mearly thought the tank would be more aesthetically pleasing if it didn't have a lascannon. Turn 3. All the tanks and Infantry in the guard army trains their sights on Master Deko http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0673.jpg (un)fortunately, a squad of basic guardsmen gun him down with their lascannons, leaving the rest of the guard army misplaced to shoot anything else (especially nice that the raider's bulk is in the way). Althoygh, that bulk made it a good target and saw it wrecked and left squad Boreko whimpering next to it's hull praying to not be shot at. Also, Squad Latko is dropped down one more bloke. The barrage Bomb comes in this turn, though it scatters wildly. Squad Latko attempts to shoot down the Heavy bolter squad, but the psycannon is out of range. They effectively do nothing. Squad Boreko left the safety of the raiders wreckage and they chewed their way through a guard infantry squad and commnand squad whom they double charge. Their consolidation has then nestled nervously against a wall. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0675.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0677.jpg Turn 4. The Guard shooting sees squad Boreko blasted off the map. Squad Latko survives this round by somehow passing all their armour saves. Something they've failed to do up to this point. The banewolf decides it'd be nice to try and contest my objective, then crashes into a wall. Doomed to never move again. Squad Boreko's death was not in vain, as it left my opponents units in a good position for attack! Squad Milivac annihilated the Chimera by blasting it's side armour. The explosion killed half the vet squad and left them pinned. Squad Latko sneaked next to the Company commander on the objective and fired their one stormbolter and psycannon at the second vet squad. Killing five and sending them running off the table. This left the only scoring unit able to actually be cable to capture the objective the heavy bolter squad. Barrage bomb misses again. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0678.jpg Turn 5. I was foolish in thinking Squad Latko would actually survive, as the last two dudes are plunked to death by Pask's Russ. The Heavy bolter squad scurries onto their armies objective. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0680.jpg The Heavy bolter squad poorly hid next to their objective as squad Milivac proved when their two psycannons had little trouble killing the three models. Barrage bomb; as you may have guessed, Missed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/killersquid/IMG_0682.jpg The game then (thankfully) Ended. When the dust settled, I was in control of one objective and he was in control of none. Leaving this another Daemonhunter victory, barely. Frogstar168
Nice win. That kind of guard army is tough to crack. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226217-1500pts-daemonhunters-vs-imperial-guard/#findComment-2709579 Share on other sites
killersquid
Thank you both. I knew I couldn't really take out the tanks, so I played for the objective. Payed off. Good thing my opponent played very defensively.
