Possible AT solution

Recommended Posts

Woohoo got my codex in today!

So I was perusing the pages trying to figure out some sort of AT strategy that would work well. Then it hit me, inquisitorial henchmen!

Not too sure if all of you will have it yet, but this is what I was thinking.

Fill a chimera (5 firing points) with the following:

Inquisitor with no ups = 25

Jokaero Weaponsmith X 2 = 70pts

Inquisitorial servitor X 2 = 20pts (free multi meltas hell yess!)

Crusader X 2 = 30

Warrior Henchmen X 5 = 20

Chimera with heavy flamers 55 pts

220 total

Some of this may not make sense till some of you read the codex since it might not be in your hands yet, but the jocaro weaponsmith is awesome.

Now I know this seems expensive, but if youve seen the entry for the jokaro, I think it would be worth it, they are just freakin sweet. Inconceivable customization? WHAT FUN. Could you imagine the chance of getting warrior acolytes with rending lasguns with a 5+ inv save? that's just funny! Since there are two, there is a high chance of getting the customization you would want, but even without it, youve got a squad cruising around with 2 lascannons, and two multi meltas, hell 4 multi meltas if you choose the jocaro to fire those instead. It can effectively deal with mobs at close range (up to 4 heavy flamers) and deliver some serious hurt long range.

My one question would be if the range upgrade occured for the multi meltas, would you be able to reach an inconceivable awesome range of 36 inches with a multi melta with an 18 inch 2D6 penetration range? even better, a 48 inch range with a 24 inch 2D6?

So the idea here is that youve got an incredible effective weapons bunker. I included the cruasaders and warrior acolytes to soak up any wounds thrown your way if the chimera is destroyed. Since the inquisitor has stubborn, youll never run away, so even if you are getting gunned down, by that point youve probably layed some serious hurt down.

Opinions?

Im feeling that I could probably frop one of the servitors and the crusaders for warrior acolytes to cheapen the cost, but I would def keep the 2 jocaro around.

ps. rending multi meltas is overkill haha

hmm, after thinking about this for a while, I believe all you get is one roll at the beginning of the game. so you may have the chance for 36" range meltas. and each mentions at the end that each upgrade may only be applied once. Still, even if it's not as good as I thought, a jokaro is still a lascannon/mm/heavy flamer rolled into one, and can improve everyone in the squad at the beginning of the game. I still plan on using this, I would love to see the expression on my opponents face for a 36" range melta for everyone in the squad. Using the chimera properly makes it a super melta death machine ;)
the purpose of the chimera would be to move up fast with the rest of the army to at least get the meltas in range. whether or not the chimera gets taken out isnt my biggest concern. Even if it hangs back, if it gets taken out, stubborn will keep the squad around and all those heavy weapons will still provide some AT ability form and affordable squad
I was thinking about this today as well. For me, I'm thinking of running 11 warriors with jokaro in a chimera. Use with Coteaz with and have 4 squads. Two with meltas and two with plasmas (3 each). Any of the random jokaro abilities are welcome and having the chance for two is delicious. I think the key is to maximize numbers/shooting/ single battlefield role/minimum other upgrades.
