Grey Knight brotherhoods colors

Recommended Posts

So i was reading through the april white dwarf and stumbled upon an entry about how each brotherhood has its own individual banner, would it be acceptable for each brotherhood to have its own color scheme? i ask because i have the idea to repaint my old GK and i was thinking of doing a white and gold color scheme...

There are 2 Different B-Hoodbanners in the Colour Section of the Codex. (p.67)

text of the first says: "one of the many...."

and so on...

The 2 Banners show one of the 1., and ond of the Second B-Hood.....The Banners themself are the same (red) but each with other Art/Heraldik.....So in my Opinion NO, it would be not acceptable.

But my Opinon doesn't matter.

They are yours, paint/style them how ever youn want.........

btw:

I like the Idea with white and gold color Scheme

The thing you run into is the complication between the idea of each of them bearing personal heraldry and not actually painting their armour. As such the only "fluffy" thing you could do is have a unified form of personal heraldry which ties the army together. Or perhaps some trim. But at the end of the day do what you want.

Between Flesh Tearers and the Bolter and Chainsword stuff I've got enough red, black, and white to last a lifetime.

My Grey Knights will definitely not be following the Codex but I haven't decided exactly where I'm going with it yet. Maybe a deep purple as that seems "regal" but really I'm at a loss.

The important thing is... you can always make up your own story as to your force's color scheme. You have a couple dozen models out of the hundreds that make up the totality of Chapter 666. They could be adopting the colors from a Marine Chapter they have fought alongside for extended periods. They could adopt the colors of a planet or solar system which this particular Strike Force has been assigned to protect because the system has a strong Imperial foothold but is a hotbed of Warp activity that needs GK defense. They could be wearing the colors of a collaborative Campaign. The colors could come from the Inquisitor that they've been assigned to work with.

They're not just "your toys"... it's *your story*. Every explanation is acceptable and "fluffy" in a pretend Universe of untold billions of humans and aliens. ;)
