That Arrow on Vehicles.....

Hi,

I've been thinking through this, and I figure at this point, it'd just be best to ask. How do people paint the arrow on the top of Space Marine Vehicles. Normally, I would think that you'd just block it in with masking tape. Or use a template. Figured I'd ask.

There used to be a template floating around somewhere - came in an old WD if I remember aright - not sure what happened to it. Masking tape might be your best bit for certain, although asking around in the Tutorials section (or even a search) may yield results.

Cut one out of plasticard and glue it on. 3D embellishments look better than paint :)

I mask mine off using frisket film. It's a sheet of lightly adhesive plastic that is used for airbrushing. Then, I spary the arrows on.

3d versions work, too, you just have to make sure you cut it so it matches the top hatches where the door would open, otherwise you've just welded a solid plate over the top hatch!

Freehand. Every time. And my eyes bleed trying to keep it even. Every time. ^_^ ^_^

Freehand it. I do it for all my pack/squad vehicle markings. The large size makes it much easier than on the puny little shoulder pads.

Mask it off, you can spray or hand-brush the marking on quite easily then. The arrow on the hatches of a Rhino is simple if you leave the hatches loose, because you can mask and paint it without the rest of the vehicle getting in the way.

Pencil, home made flexible ruler, then paint it on by hand.

I drew one on squared paper, cut it out and then marked the area in pencil on the tank and free handed it.

Draw a big arrow on a piece of paper, cut it out, put it on top of your tank, paint around it as carefully as you can.
