Shyft
I just got the codex, and having skimmed a few things, I noticed something: Stormravens can take teleport homers! This seems to lead up to a whole hell of a lot of awesome strategies! SRs are /huge/ models, even if you only measure 6" from their flying base. Thoughts? Loyalist
I've fielded my Stormraven once in a recent GW store Apocalypse 'megabattle'. Being stretched 2.5" for aesthetics it's an even bigger target. It was carrying a 5-man Terminator squad plus Terminator Chaplain and a locator beacon toward an objective. I chose not to Deep Strike due to congestion near the target. Another problem was that my assigned table section for arrival had no cover useful to a Stormraven. In the first turn it moved onto the board and shot at a rebel Valkyrie, doing minor damage. The plan was to head for the objective and drop the Terminators and locator beacon as close as possible on the next turn. In the following turn a second Terminator squad would teleport in using the beacon. Unfortunately 3 Obliterators walked onto the board and took out the Stormraven with lascannons. It crashed but all passengers survived uninjured, then had to footslog fighting Obliterators, IG and a Daemon Prince in the process. The survivors were several inches too far from the objective to contest it at the end of the game. Lessons learned: Deep Strike if possible, and use at least 2 Stormravens so one is likely to get through.
