MontyBob
OK, might be a nabbish question. The aegis reduces the ld of any model attempting to cast a psychic power on GK by 1 (or 4 near a dread). If an attempt was made to nullify the power would that be on the ld used to cast (i.e. 6) or the psyker's base LD stat? Gentlemanloser
The Aegis has no effect on PH rolls. It only effects enemies Psychic Test rolls. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226368-psychic-hoods-and-aegis/#findComment-2710795 Share on other sites
Chairman_woo
Yes I dont belive it is suggested anywhere that a psychic hood is a phychic power for any game purposes. ValourousHeart
And aegis says that it only works on powers that target a unit with aegis, lots of powers will effect GK without actually targeting them. Grey Mage
Yes I dont belive it is suggested anywhere that a psychic hood is a phychic power for any game purposes. Unless they changed the wording significantly in the new GK book not a single psychic defense in the game is itself a psychic power. I always thought that was odd though. Brother Valerius
You guys seem to be interpreting the question as if the Aegis affects the psychic hood directly (asking if it makes your opponent's use of a hood more difficult), but I think the question is thus. If a psychic power is cast at a unit with the Aegis, and you attempt to nullify it with a psychic hood, does your opponent roll with his natural leadership in the opposed roll, or does he roll with the leadership score he used to make the original psychic test? Gentlemanloser
That's what we've answered. Natural Leadership, as the opposed PH roll isn't a Psychic Power. But use of Wargear. The Aegis has no efect on the PH roll. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226368-psychic-hoods-and-aegis/#findComment-2711085 Share on other sites
Brother Valerius
It isn't necessarily a use of wargear. When a psyker without a psychic hood casts a power, and you use the hood on it, they get an opposed roll even though they don't have a hood. I don't know that I'd classify it as a psychic power, per se, but it isn't that big of an inference to say that the same leadership score applies. I'm just wondering if there's a solid rule one way or the other. I very strongly suspect that there are no grounds anywhere in the rules to count a pshychic hood as anything but wargear with a specificly defined effect. The aegis will only ever effect the enemys attempt to cast the power as I read it, the Hood roll off to try and nulify it appear to be a separate event. If prescident to the contrary can be found of cource that is a different matter... Gentlemanloser
The Aegis specifies it effects the enemies Psychic Test. The PH specifies it is used after a sucessful Psychic Test. The two are totally seperate rolls. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226368-psychic-hoods-and-aegis/#findComment-2711146 Share on other sites
Justcar
If the psychic hood was a psychic power, then it could be nullified by other psychic hoods! This would lead to a never ending cycle of madness!
