Beginner Purchases

I'd agree with the above. You can make a number of decent HQs from the Wolfbox, so no problems there. If you decide on using rhino's or razorbacks (which is probably what you will do) - then remember to buy razorback models instead of rhinos. Virtually the same price and you can model it so you can have interchangable models between rhino and razorback.
First, figure out a list and test it using models you may have from other armies. Then, and only then, should you begin buying things. Also, what type of army do you plan on playing, such as gunline or charge forward and kill stuff?

Or just learn to love magnets and then the normal boxes will suffice for countless list variations.

I was able to pick up a good amount of models from a friend for a decent price. I got the Space Marine Megaforce (20 tacticals, 5 sniper scouts, 5 assault marines, predator, rhino, and a dread). However, I have no wolf bits.

And I'm not sure what list I'm going after, I might make a 500/ 1000 list of each type and try them out.

These are the sprue's you get in the space wolves pack box, so have a look and see how many you will need

If you wanna go cheaper and still have some wolf fluff, you could opt for the Bitz sprue:

You don't get as much great stuff, but since you already have a megaforce from your friends, buying more boxes might feel like overkill. I would still prefer the bitz from the pack box, but felt like showing you options.

Umm first of all WELCOME to the FANG! and since everyone here pretty much helped you out. It's time you considered some of the essentials such as a good handful of dice, how to transport your minis and misc game aids like tape measure or gale force nine tac template.

I have everything except an effective way to transport minis. I know my one buddy recommended a tackle box, but there is no padding and seems like mini's could be broken very easily. What do you recommend? (preferably $50 or less)

T.A.C. template is useful have a look http://www.gf9.com/store/product_info.php?...products_id=235 and as for army transport, Battlefoam all the way! http://www.battlefoam.com/

I'm in a similar situation, i recently started collecting Space Wolves and currently have a pack of WG, a lord and two packs of grey hunters(though not all are assembled yet). As a student i can't afford to make very big purchases, so i'm wondering what to buy next. I was thinking of buying two land speeders, or something with a similar price (about 50 euros). What would you recommend? I already have about 2000 points of Blood Angels (mostly infantry), so i could use those models to try out some lists..

I'm 100% with Mav regarding Battlefoam. Cheapest option I can think of that you could use that won't (atleast typically) break your models is simple eggshell insulation from the hardware store and a shoebox. Or if you have enough tank-sized boxes or access to similar, you could follow this guide.

@Maalis: I haven't seen many (if any) in the Fang that would recommend speeders. You claim to have a lot of infantry, so I'd suggest getting a razorback (and magnetize it to function as a rhino on occasion) or a land raider crusader/redeemer to protect some of that infantry and potentially get them into combat faster. Also, you would definitely do your force justice by getting a rune priest in the works.

Don't do what I did: buy SW battleforce then go 'ya know what I want? Something big!' and get a Ven dread. Get at least one more squad of Grey Hunters first then get a RP or whatever. The big stuff can soak up fire but not two turns of getting everything pumped into it :) guys over gear....

Also, it's slightly cheaper to buy regular space marines and wolf-a-fy them than to buy another box of grey hunters, you should have more than enough spare bitz from the battleforce sprue. Also, think of what armies you'll be facing. There's no point getting tanks(even if it's what you want your army to focus on) if you'r going up against Broadside/Crisis suit with twin linked fusion blaster spam for example.

you can make most of your army with the wolf box (don't bother with the battle force) the problem is getting enough meltas and missile launchers, the best place to get these from is ebay or you could get a few box's of tactical marines and the SW upgrade sprue and kit bash them with the wolf box and you will have a bunch of meltas and missile launchers. then you will need rhinos or drop pods, get the razorback lit rather then the rhino as its only a few quid more and you get all the same stuff as the rhino aswell as the turrets.
