Aeddon
As long as you've got one troop choice per 500 points played you should be fine with whatever else you decide to use. We have a very balanced codex which allows for a lot of different competitive builds so take a good look at what you want to use. Some popular builds tend to use Long Fangs with missile launchers, Thunderwolf Cavalry, Wolf Scouts, Rune Priests, Rhinos, ect. Most important thing though is making sure you have fun, and kill lots of heretics/xenos/daemons/whatever! Maalis
Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll still get the speeders now (I'm just so tempted by them somehow :D ) and use my Angels stuff as substitute if needed. After all I'll have the whole summer to build up my renegade Great Company.. Lord Frost
If you are going to use Long Fangs Don't buy Devistator sets, you will likely never use heavy bolters, multi meltas and rarely use plasma cannon's, your better off to search on ebay and buy the individual weapons you want. it will save you alot of money compared to gettting five devistator sets to build 5 rocket launchers (whick are the bees knees if you ask me.) Five Devastator boxes is clearly over the top, but one box is a reasonable investment. You get the kneeling legs IIRC, one missile launcher and lascannon, which I find pretty useful for several builds. If You are very into it the multimelta barrels can be used for making 4 combimelta conversions for terminator wolfguards. You also get 5 sets of legs and several cool bits. Aeddon
Don't you get two of each heavy weapon in the devastator box? Or am I remembering wrong? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226404-beginner-purchases/page/2/#findComment-2712213 Share on other sites
CainTheHunter
Don't you get two of each heavy weapon in the devastator box? Or am I remembering wrong? Only h-bolters and lascannons are in doubles. Not sure about plasma cannon, but definitely only one missile launcher and multimelta. Freman Bloodglaive
Ironic given that missile launchers and multi-meltas are now the default weapons (missiles on devastators/long fangs, multi-melta on tacticals). I'd say that long fang packs should be made up with a couple of lascannons now, Grey Knights have given us a new lot of multi wound units, now with 2+ saves. Better for them to rely on cover/invulnerable saves than their armour. RipherChost
I very highly recomend getting magnets so that you have the option to switch your special weapons out, I also started magnetizing my land speeders this week using the same magnets so these are fairly strong I got them here as recomended by another B&C user... http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D201%2DN52 If you do end up getting Razorbacks to use as rhinos as well the kit should come with hunter killer missles. I have five regular marines with ML and the other five are converted using hunter killer missles that I had laying around. Mind SSing your conversion so we can see how you chose to model it/them? RipherChost
Wulfbane I will be getting some pics going soon I am having camera issues. It is a bit older and does not want to focus on items as small as a marine for some reason. I will kick off a WiP/Army Pic thread of my own after a convention my job is sending me to in a couple days here.
