Badaab Posted April 3, 2011 Share Posted April 3, 2011 Hey gang, I've bought the bullet, so to speak, and decided to actually have a go at a GK army. This is an army I can realistically paint in less than a calendar year, if I keep myself to strictly models I'll be using in the army. However, all the local game stores are currently sold out of the Codex... which is what brings me here with questions! As for the Dreadnought in the GK army list, what weapons options does the entry offer? Is it purely the standard options for the SM Dreadnought, or something a little more in character with the GK heavy weapons (Psycannon, etc.). I'm not in a huge rush on this, as the Dreadnoughts currently sit third and fourth on my 'to do' list for this army (behind two squads of Terminators... the power armored GK boxes were also sold out across three stores), but I'd like to put a little more time into the Dreads, and really have a go at converting them a little more. Sure, Forgeworld makes some nice stuff, but for the cost of one GK Dread kit from Forgeworld, I can get almost three plastic Dread kits. Also, that Frag Cannon arm from the Furioso/Libby/Death Company Dread kit would be an easy convert into something more interesting for a GK Dread. Another major reason for this, is that the Dreadnoughts will be the centerpiece on this force (Terminator heavy, in character with the RT-era GK fluff), and there will be absolutely no Dreadknights selected (as I hate the model something fierce... its like they crammed a Terminator into an amalgamation of the power loader from Aliens and the walker suit thing from Avatar). Darkchild130 Posted April 3, 2011 Share Posted April 3, 2011 Multimelta,plasma cannon, asscannon, twin Heavy bolter/flamer/lascannon/autocannon (both arms), missile launcher. Nothing too out of the ordinary, though you can rock out psybolts on your rifleman dreads, giving you 4 reroll strength 8 shots. This is exactly what I plan to do. Well, certainly looks like I'll be fixing the Frag Cannon and making it into something more interesting for one Dread, and the other will likely get the Plasma Cannon from the Venerable Dread kit. Now the question remains... will I outfit both with the halberd from the BA Libby Dreadnought kit? Hopefully I can have some pics up soon... awaiting the drying of GS here before I can mount the first ten models onto the bases. Maybe I can knock up a color test with one of my first generation GKs that's around here someplace.
