Smallboy
Hi guys, Pondering the idea of how to paint a guy so he looks like he's covered in flames, not as in painting onto his armour but so he's actually on fire... any idea's? Servallier
Well, one good way would be to sculpt some flames on him first, this isn't hard, just stick a few blobs of GS on here and there and attack the blobs with your clippers (gently) and modelling tool of choice. Then do a bit of layering, start with a dark red, then, leaving some dark red at the base and in the recesses, highlight with successive layers of lighter red, orange, yellow, and eventually white, with the lighter colours towards the tips of the flames Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226457-fire/#findComment-2712052 Share on other sites
Durus
Take a look at this mini. It's the fire wizard that came with the army deal. Might give you an idea. There used to be some sculpting tutorials on GW's page, but the method described here, here and here are the same. It's pretty simple actually. Hemal
AGreed - fire tends to be brighter towards the middle of the flame although not in the dead centre. If you can get some clear resin, then you could even model some flames in this (use plaster or GS to make a mould, dip in the resin a few times to produce a cone of flame. BOBMAKENZIE
It is easier to pulll off on models the other way around because of the properties of paint. The flames are not luminescant lets remember.
