What now for Garro!?

So what now for Garro? In collected Visions it is mentioned that 8 marines were presented to the Emperor,SPOILER so in Legion of One there are 4 and back to Earth they must go! so what about the remaining numbers, any clues??

I wonder if the 8 were retconned to 4 or perhaps the others didn't make the trip.

Qruze as well, so that's five.

I didn't take the reference to Prospero and Signis Prime as meaning Garro had personally been there recruiting. I took them simply as time landmarks to provide a sense of the time that had passed since Eisenstein. They were the significant battles to that point of the Heresy.

The four mentioned by snorkle, plus Qruze, plus maybe a Blood Angel, a Thousand Son and a Space Wolf makes 8.

Though Aegnor said that he didnt think Garro went to Prospero, and a Thousand Son is unlikely because of

the gene-seed mutating at the end of A Thousand Sons.

btw the spoiler is from A Thousand Sons ^_^

Sooo who knows who the 8 marines were, is it possible Valdor joined the Grey Knights as a founding member? He wasnt heard of after the HH so far, even though it would be nicer for him to die :)

Well according to the new Grey Knights dex, some wee fellow named Janus rocked so much that he was made the 1st ever Supreme Grand Master. No mention of his Legion but from the 8 we have, as previously mentioned

Nathaniel Garro

Iacton Qruze

Varren

Rubio

Garviel Loken

I think it safe to assume the survivors from the Eisenstein would have been put forward for recruitment as "regular" Knights.

I also don't think it totally implausible for a Thousand Son marine to be recruited. The fact they have an iffy gene-seed wouldn't make too much difference as the Knights had their own gene-seed engineered for them prior to founding. That's been stated many times and not just in the new codex. Actually the notion of a Thousand Son appeals to me a lot as someone would need to provide the basis for all the warp-lore they've accumulated let alone use in present day 40K. If we accept that, that totals 6 so 2 more to find. Personally, if I had to guess, I'd opt for the Imperial Fists (fanatically loyal to the Emperor), Dark Angels (well versed in secrecy) or Word Bearers (would have gleaned at least some knowledge of the daemonic)

Hopefully someone won't take it upon themselves to totally screw around with this although whether Mat Ward left out details of Garro and his recruits intentionally or merely because he's Mat Ward is entirely left to the whim of time and future authors

I'm thinking this has more to do with starting the inquisition than the ordo malleus, I feel like them being grey nights is presumptuous considering the framework for their indoctrination and psychic scrubbing doesn't exist yet. I'm sure this is crucial to the grey knights eventual creation, but again, it makes more sense that these guys are going to form the foundation for the inquisition and will never see the first grey knight.
There is no names in the GK dex but it also says that they had veteran marines in addition to the 8 founding members to help train the raw recruits so a thousand son would be handy for the sorcery side of thing, that said they also didn't join Horus to start with they where kind of forced too since Russ sacked their planet at the Big E's orders. so salt to taste
I think its jumping the gun a bit to assume that Qruze is part of Malcador's list. Just because he escaped with Garro and returned to Terra with him doesn't mean hes a good fit for the Inquisition/Grey Knights. He could just be hanging around Terra with the Fists, or advising the big E on Horus. He was pretty old if I remember correctly. I personally don't think he is part of the list.
I am inclined to agree with Nurgling. Qruze is very much an 'old timer' and I suspect his wisdom will be used rather than his physicality, which makes me think he would be involved, but not as a GK. The HH authors are bound to throw a twist or two in to the GK arena as it is the proverbial open book, to an extent.

SPOILER ALERT forgot how to use the spoiler tags, my apologies...

Im positive that one of them will be an Iron Warrior who will be joining soon enough, and maybe we will get a Emperors Children marine in there,

HERE COMES THE SPOILER

since in the next Garro audio book they are on Istvan 3

Just a guess, but I saw this posted over on warseer to do with the Age of Darkness Heresy novel due out next months, post from Reds8n.

I put the part I think stand out in bold. But please do not highlight this if you do not want Age of Darkness spoil for you.

Age of Darkness being a short story novel of the heresy

1: Rules of Engagement by Graham McNeill

2: Liars' Due by James Swallows

3: Forgotten Sons by Nick kyme

4: The last remembrancer by John French

5: Rebirth by Chris Wraight

6: The face of treachery by Gav Thorpe

7: Little Horus by Dan Abnett

8: The Iron Within by Rob Sanders

9: Savage Weapons by Aaron Dembski-Bowden

Reds8n post, again do not highlight if you do not want it spoil. Just though this might be intresting to the topic.

The story concerns a squad of 1ksons returning to Prospero, having been one of the squads on a ship in orbit who Magnus ordered to flee.

They return to find the planet lifeless and everything has been destroyed and cast down. They search for survivors and try and work out who attacked them. They find some clues and piece together who the attackers were, but they themselves then come under attack, presumably from pickets/guards left behind to deal with just such a situation.

Most of the squad are killed and their leader is captured, drugged so he can't use his powers and then brutally interrogated.

.. we then learn exactly who it is who is there, and why...

.. all of which is very good and saying more here would really

IP

Just as an FYI the GK's take new names upon their completion of training. That being said this "Janus" fellow, could easily be any of the aforementioned individuals.

Also, since I want to keep up with Garro, aside from the audio books, do I need to go pickup collected visions? (not sure if that is the name of the novel).
