Want to start a terminator only army

dTroops just don't mean that much to us.

My point still stands.

Replacing Terminators with a mix of Paladin and othe runit (be it strike or puri) will *always* net you more. It will always be better, with no exception.

That's not being blinded by bling.

Your assertion is totally false. For starters, it assumes that the only HQ one takes is a GM or Draigo. If Paladins can't be taken as Troops (or made scoring), then they are not actually "more" or "better" in the sense that they fulfill core requirements of building a playable army list.

I don't understand why this concept is difficult to understand.

Take your argument and apply it to the Dark Eldar. By the way you're measuring things, Trueborn are always "better" than Warriors. More points efficient, better stats, better access to weapons, more flexibility in unit construction, etc. But they're Elites, not Troops. That's the difference. (Ditto for Bloodbrides vs Wyches, too.)

The force org chart actually does matter. GKs are not immune to it. If you decide to alter the Force Org chart by taking certain HQs, that's your choice. But then you must acknowledge that you're purposefully limiting your access to a wealth of possibility by making that choice.

Having looked at some lists, and stuff, I shall be trying out a paladin heavy army at some point for sure (using stand in's and such).

I'm really liking the thought of drago, 10 paladins (4 psycannons + assorted special weps) 5 paladins (2 psycannons + assorted special weps) and a dread knight with sword, heavy incinerator and personal teleporter for 1500 points roughly (considering I have about 20 terminators including logan, rune priest and arjac with my logan wing at 1500 points).

Though this got me wondering, if I give the 10 man squad something via grand strategy, then combat squad them, both squads will have the special rule right?

Yes, both will have the special rule. You enact the Grand Strategy before you deploy the units, ie before they are combat squadded. Both retain the boon.

I have a paladin heavy army, and I enjoy using it very much. Not too mention is just looks awesome with the new models.

well, while I have a terminator heavy army, I might, might just be tempted enough to get another one (considering from some places its under £100 for that army, less than £100 for 1500 points :D ).

Just need to get a friendly game in where I can use stand ins heh

Comparing Purifiers to Strikers is useless, devoid of any meaning.

Same with comparing Paladins to Terminators.

No, not really.

I personally always think there is a very fine line to be drawn here.

On one hand, you have to keep in mind that different units with different roles and attributes cannot be directly compared to one another because each has its own role. As an analogy, it is like how you cannot say a pharmacist is useless without a doctor or vice versa - the doctor may have had to undergo more years of education to become one, but only the pharmacist can dispense the drugs while the doctor is the only one that can give the diagnosis.

HOWEVER, on the other hand, you cannot say that comparisons of units within an army are "devoid of any meaning". In a game where everything is a certain amount of points, the way you spend those points is important. There is meaning in comparing them, simply because what you are spending on one option is what you are not spending on another option.
