Brother Captain Ed
Ok, I'm not getting any help down in the Inquisition forum since it's pretty much all Grey Knights all the time. so I'm reposting here looking for your insight. I'm in the design phase of a new Order of Sororitas. I'd like something a little irreverant while still being moderately fluffy. So, "Bolter Babes" is out, but something like "Our Lady of Gratuitous Violence" or "Our Lady of Overwhelming Firepower" fits the bill. Any thoughts? I seek minds more pithy than my own. Thanks in advance guys! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226643-naming-an-order-of-sisters-of-battle/ Share on other sites
burningblades20
You only posted that thread yesterday so it's not going to have many answers yet plus it's no surprise it hit page 2 within hours with the grey knights having a new codex you just have to be patient with it more people will come around most likely it's just hard right now with the grey knight craze. One thing you could do to help your thread along is post some names you have possibly thought up and others can come offer their thoughts on your names and then offer up some of their own. I would help but my order is an official one so I haven't really given much thought to appropriate fan made orders. Eddie Orlock
I currently have a detachment from the order of 'Our Lady of Perpetual Ammunition'. Legend has it that in the distant past a Celestian with a heavy bolter, last of her mission, held a shrine for a week of near continuous fighting against an ork waaagh before relief forces could arrive. While it was rekoned that she only had enough rounds for a few hours in the tiny armoury of the shrine, so strong was her faith, that every time she squeezed the trigger, her blessed bolter doled out the Emperors wrath to the green skined hordes. Black armour, with gold trim and fleurs, and blue robes. Red 'I's with bone wings and blond hair. Well, it doesn't have to be 'Our Lady of Something', you could follow in the idiom of the Ebon Heart, or the Bloody Rose, or the Argent Shroud. Perhaps, the 'Order of the Adamantine Magnolia' Named in honour of the founding Canoness in awknoledgement that she was always composed and reserved. Appeared calm even in the heat of battle when all hope appeared lost, for she had great faith in the Emperors deliverence. Ferrata
You have two main paths that have been pointed out, either the Order of the or Our Lady of.... What follows this really depends on the character of your army. I have a SoB army planned called the Order of Perpetual Night, which is an extremely grim and gothic force whose beliefs are very negative. You might want to go for something sacraficial like the Order of the Last Martyrs or Our Lady of the Bleeding Hands. If you want them to be quite a happy bunch, the Order of the Shining Light or Our Lady of the Blazing Sun might work. Brother Captain Ed
Thanks for the replies thus far. Yes, the Inquisition forum is awash in GKs, blah blah, etc. Anyway, cool names aren't hard. Fisting's "Our Lady of Fiery Wrath" is great and Ferrata helpfully posted several good ones. But I'm looking for more mildly irreverant and pithy as opposed to hardcore. "Our Lady of Perpetual Ammunition" is great: clever, believable, irreverant, but not over the top with ridiculousness nor self-absorbed with badassery. I like it alot. But, yeah, it's much harder than I thought it would be at first. So, thus far, I have: "Our Lady of Gratuitous Violence" "Our Lady of Overwhelming Firepower" "Our Lady of Perpetual Ammunition" I'm not married to the "Our Lady" schemes, but I guess it's much easier to be sardonic with them. I dunno. I'm at a loss for much further. Eddie Orlock
To be completely fair, I didn't make the name of my order up. I stole it from a tounge in cheek post in the ordos a few years ago. I don't recall who deserves the credit anymore. :D My only role was recognising brilliance when I saw it. Maybe, the 'Order of the Emperors Mercy'. 'Cause everyone knows that His mercy is dispensed from a boltgun. Could be a very bookish order by the name of the 'Adjective Noun', but that's probably not plausable enough for you. Maybe a blend, the 'Order of the Bloody Shroud', or the 'Order of the Argent Challace'. I think there is a definite future advantage in having the noun part take the form of one of the original six, based solely on the notion that future plastic sets will have accessory sprues with moulded versions of the standard heraldry. That's actually my one lament with my own chapter, they have their own badge, so the ones that come with the new kits always need to be replace or the aquillia used. soddinnutter
Some names and what the first thing to think of was. Order of the Midnight Blade - Lightning strike Close combat specialists that prefer night time attacks. No battle hymns, war chants or heavy vehicles. Order of the Burned Lady - Promethium and Meltas everywhere. Mid to close range firepower specialists. They give their final oaths of loyalty whilst holding their hands in a fire as a sign of respect to the Burned Lady, founder of their Order. I am out of ideas. It's much harder than thinking up names for Chapters. I always figured that if I ever ventured into playing an SoB army, I'd have the name reflect my personality somewhat. With that in mind I'd use Order of the Bloody minded (because I'm getting more cantankerous in my old[er] age....) :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226643-naming-an-order-of-sisters-of-battle/#findComment-2716368 Share on other sites
