RedMoon
hey yall. im just saw they updated the rules for forgeworlds Hector Rex to put him with the new grey knights. i decided to order him and noticed how he was painted. i was trying to come up with an idea to make my grey knights look different then everybody else's anyway and i really like his armor with the bone and gold. soooooo how do yall think they did this. the gold i understand its the bone color of the armor plates them selves....... http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/AlternativeFW/xlarge/HecRex4.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226664-hector-rexs-armor/ Share on other sites
Bewlay
Well the grey armour looks like it was done with non-metallics, and used heavy weathering (either dry-brushed or washed). But don't quote me on this Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226664-hector-rexs-armor/#findComment-2715056 Share on other sites
winterdyne
Looks like codex grey with a sepia and/or devlan mud glaze to me. Highlights with fortress and a spot of white. You can get a similar effect using boltgun, sepia and devlan washes, then dull coating the mini with some kind of non-gloss sealant. winterdyne
You get a similar colour, but that would be metallic. The target here isn't. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226664-hector-rexs-armor/#findComment-2715996 Share on other sites
Brother Tancred
I'd say the armour is dheneb stone, heavy wash of devlan mud and then highlight the armour with DS and add white. Sounds like a great change to the standard silver/grey scheme. Plus I don't know the size of Rex but he could be a cool counts-as Draigo. ProteanSun
I don't have my paints on me but I feel it is more desert yellow or graveyard earth with a sepia wash. It looks similar to one of the harry the hammer paint schemes seen in the Warriors of Chaos army book. Stroganoff
I don't suppose you've tried emailing Forgeworld and asking them? It doesn't seem like the kind of trade secret they'd want to hold close to their chest Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226664-hector-rexs-armor/#findComment-2719115 Share on other sites
