1500 pt, 10 Man or Less Army

I've never been able to complete an army as I get too caught up in conversions before jumping to a new army. And with the awesome new bits the Grey Knights have, I'm going to be getting a couple boxes anyway.

So in the eternity it will take me to make a competitive army, I'm going to attempt a Grey Knight army. How should I go about it? I want it 10 men or less. So far I'm looking at using Draigo, a Librarian, Techmarines, and one man Paladin units. Planning on using a ton of servo-skulls.

:) I hope you're not serious! Such an army simply cannot win games. You need to accept 40K for what it is: more than a mere skirmish game. 1500 pts, you're going to be playing on the order of 20-30 models, minimum, if you keep it pure GK.

Never said I planned on winning. I just want to take as much out as I can before I go down.

My main draw into 40k is as an artistic outlet. Playing is fun, but I have an obsessive need to convert my models as much as possible. A 20-30 man army is impossible for me. I just want to be able to get to the gaming table with an army that I made and play with, no matter how short the game is likely to go.

Easy, I can do it in 6.

HQ - Kaldor Draigo

HQ - Grandmaster with loads of equipment to bring him to about 315 points

Troop - Paladin Apothecary with Falchions and psybolts

Heavy - Dreadknight with Personal Teleporter, Psycannon and Greatsword

Lol even with such a low model count, I can still see this mulching anything in close combat lol

Master Crafted Falchions and Stormbolter, of course. ;)

Okay... To add a bit of silliness to this thread, what is the biggest point value you can get in one FOC with less than 15 models. :( Bonus points for a coherent theme. Double bonus points if you qualify for an Apoc game.

So long as you are crystal clear on the fact that such an army -- including all the ones that came before my post, the one in my post, and all the ones that come after my post --will be absolutely destroyed in every game you play ... here's how I would try and build a fun HeroHammer GK army.

HQ

[275 pts] Kaldor Draigo

[105 pts] Brotherhood Champion, digital weapons

Elite

[145 pts] Vindicare Assassin

[195 pts] Venerable Dreadnought, 2x TLAC, psybolts

[195 pts] Venerable Dreadnought, 2x TLAC, psybolts

Troop

[130 pts] Paladin, apothecary

[115 pts] 2 Paladins, hammer, falchions

Heavy Support

[170 pts] Dreadknight, heavy psycannon

[170 pts] Dreadknight, heavy psycannon

Total: 1500 pts, 10 models

Good luck! You're going to need it!

Would you accept 13? Bit high I know :( but at least you can have a better themed list and slightly more staying power?

Lord Draigo

= 275pts

Paladin squad, 5 models with:

- 1x Psycannon and Halberd

- 1x Psycannon and Brotherhood Banner

- Daemon Hammer

- Warding staff

- 1x Halberd

= 360pts

Paladin squad, 5 models with:

- 1x Psycannon and Halberd

- 1x Psycannon and Brotherhood Banner

- Daemon Hammer

- 2x Halberd

= 340pts

Stormraven

- Twin Linked Multi-melta

- Twin Linked Assault Cannon

- Hurricane Bolter Sponsons

- Psybolt Ammunition

= 255pts

Stormraven

- Twin Linked Multi-melta

- Twin Linked Assault Cannon

- Hurricane Bolter Sponsons

- Psybolt Ammunition

= 255pts

Total = 1485pts

Plan is to hold both Paladin units inside a Stormraven in reserve with Draigo in the unit without the Warding staff to grant them some more survivability. The spare 15pts are probably best spent on Master-crafting those Daemon Hammers.

Hell I'm tempted to collect that just for fun! Can't see it being competetive mind, one well placed demolisher cannon and it could be all over for a quarter of the army!

number6- winning is definitely not the intention. just interested in using an army I made.

StormTAG- I'll take that challenge.

3037pts with 14 models:

Draigo 275

Grand Master 415

3 Techmarines 164 each

6 Paladin Apothecaries 155 each

3 Dreadknights 305 each

Pretty sure that's right. And I didn't even add pointless psybolt ammo.

As you wish! FWIW, my initial army list was illegal. No psycannons in Paladin units smaller than 5 models! I fixed it above, if you're interested. Still 1500 pts exactly, and still 10 models. But at least it's got more firepower now, which is desperately needed for you to have any fun with it at all, methinks.
