WulfenBrother
So has anyone tried this? Seems like it could get interesting..... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226808-lone-wolf-taking-a-ride/ Share on other sites
Thunderhawk3015
Kinda defeats the purpose of his existence imo. Your opponent can kill him, and give you a kill point, or try and keep him from getting into CC with his army and not engage him which means you can, to a degree, control where he goes. Yes, I'm equally baffled. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226808-lone-wolf-taking-a-ride/#findComment-2716763 Share on other sites
Grimtooth
Just for kicks, I would put him next to a Land Raider Redeemer, mount up first turn, and blast towards the front lines. If I am running him up, I am running him up in a vehicle that I want close to the enemy ala Flamestorm Cannons. Ragnars Claw
I tried deploying him next to a raider, getting in, moving the raider 7.5" forward, pivoting and slingshotting the lone wolf out whilst the raider squad moved up and jumped in the raider. My raider got immobilised first turn by a lascannon meaning it was facing the wrong way. All for about 3" extra move on the lone wolf. Serves me right really  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226808-lone-wolf-taking-a-ride/#findComment-2716810 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Another trick might be to have him deployed next to Longfangs. Leave them wide open and the opponent might be fooled into thinking hes a Wolfguard. Barn
I dont know about others, but where im from, we explain what the army consists of before the game starts ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226808-lone-wolf-taking-a-ride/#findComment-2716880 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
I dont know about others, but where im from, we explain what the army consists of before the game starts :P We dont do that and if they ask about my army list i politely decline to let them show before battle (i wont look into theirs if they offer it), its kind of fun to find out during game play. Not that i realy need to know what they have cause i know what what is 85% of the time. Thats all well, and I pretty much agree with it, but does it not suck when you charge some models and they're actually all armed with something else? Thunderhawk3015
You're ignoring the fact that he can get close to the enemy faster because...? Sometimes faster isn't the best idea, and if the tank he is hitching a ride in gets cracked then a kill point was given up for that. That and dedicating a transport to carry a single model when somewhere in the rest of the army there is a unit that could make better use of it... It makes sense if you think about all the things that the transport could be doing that does not involve carrying one model. Granted if you used a Land Raider it would be worth it... but then your making it an even bigger target for enemy shooting which imo is a waste of that particular tank. You could give a rhino/razorback to some wolf guard and split them off as pack leaders which would leave it free. Not sure if it is worth it, but you don't necessarily have to steal it from a unit that would be using it. Thunderhawk3015
Easy kill point for your opponent on the transport then, and the points for the rhino/razorback could potentially be used elsewhere in the list.
