Help with 600pts grey knights

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I was wondering if I could get some help with making an army list for my school's 600pts matches.

At the moment I have in model options:

Brother captain stern (can be termie equivalent hq)

5x grey knight terminators

5x power Armour grey knights (five more on their way)

Vindicare Assasin

nemesis dreadknight

Castellen crowe (when availible)

And possibly a terminator librarian

As you can probably see I'm a bit short on models...

Armies I am facing at the moment: orks (quite a few mechs) and a lot of space marines which tend to use chapter master and a dreadnought (basically the black reach set)

All opinions are welcome.

I think a henchmanless grey knights force at 600 pts might be tricky. Nevertheless, that shouldnt stop you from trying!

You have some options depending on what you want. You can go gimmicky and try to include the dreadknight at 600pts but then you'll end up underequipping your grey knights.

You can go for solid built-out troop choices but then you probably wont have more than the mandatory HQ + 2TR (Brocap/Libby(1 extra power)+5termies w psyc + 10 gkss w 2 psyc is probably already gonna be near enough to 600 pts as it is).

You can go completely crazy and only use 5 models ;) Draigo paladins at 600 pts!

Mmm, small points challenge and quite a challenge at that. At least there is enough here to make a legal army list. Well as no one else wants to give it a spin..:

--------

HQ

Grey Knight Librarian (Use Stern if the other model is unavailable) - Quicksilver, Shrouding, and Warp Rift [165 Points]

You'll be using Shrouding quite a bit, if your units are in cover with it the better. Warp Rift will be good against orks and armour as you don't have much firepower.

Troops

Grey Knight Strike Squad - [100 Points]

Grey Knight Terminators - Incinerator, Thunderhammer [205 Points]

Heavy

Dreadknight - [130 Points]

No room for upgrades unfortunately.

Alternative Suggestions

The list above is recommended. If you don't like it feel free to swap out the Librarian or Dreadknight for the following. The Inquisitor(s) could be an alternative if you're up for conversions:

Ordo Malleus Inquisitor - Terminator Armour, Daemonhammer, Psycannon [80 Points]

Swapping this for the Dreadknight would allow you to kit out your other squads. Alternatively you could take two in exchange for the Librarian...

Brotherhood Champion (using Castellan Crowe) [100 Points]

Not the highest of recommendations but with a re-rollable 3++ in assault he's a cheap tank and with Heroic Sacrifice he may upset that dreadnought/chapter master.

--------

It's not much, but it makes use of what's there. Go in with fun foremost in mind and you'll have a great time. :P

I actually think that the Brotherhood Champion is not too bad for this level of points. Shrouding would really be helpful considering the low body count, but the add points saved by taking a stock BHC will allow you to get some decent wargear on your guys.

Oiad's list is a pretty good option, here's another:

Brotherhood Champion

10-man Strike Squad: 2x psycannons 1x hammer

5-man Terminator Squad: 1x psycannon, 4x Halberds, 1x Hammer

45 points left over for perhaps a razorback or something? I know you didn't list a Razorback in your available models, but those extra 45 points would be great to add some mobility and firepower. Otherwise, I suppose you could just add some extra wargear...

for such a small points value, I like

Brotherhod champion, psybolt ammo

Strike Squad (10) 2 psycannons, psybolt ammo, master crafted hammer

Terminator Squad (5) psycannon, master crafted hammer, 4 halberds

10 points left to spend where you please

The razorback is a great option, too, though. Never hurts to give them a lot of targets to worry about.
