Son of Rawl
From wording I say that Henchmen can be made Troops if Cortez is chosen. But at the end of the day it is the Grey Knight codex...not the Inquistion so there probs will be a faq about this sadly Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226830-funny-coteaz-lists/page/2/#findComment-2717748 Share on other sites
Wildfire
In any case, on the day they FAQ this I lose all interest in the GK codex. I don't care for GKs, I just want to have a pure Inquisition list. That unfortunately is not possible even now, but it will be doubly true after the FAQ. Doubly true? What... after the FAQ pure Inquisition lists will be RAW. You make it sound like they'd kill the "as troops" rule altogether. Because you can't make a decent Inquisition list in only 6 slots right now. The henchmen squads simply don't cost enough (unless you purposely go overboard on the expensive stuff) to make even a 1500 point list with only 6 slots. IG can make a list using only Troops because you can fit multiple squads in a single slot. I don't really think there's another single army with such a low cost of Troops that can make a list without dipping into Elites, FA and HS. ProteanSun
It's been a while since I have posted on B&C but I found it important to note that the Dreadknight is basically a Grey Knight...Knight. It's based off of one of the manned walkers mentioned in at the very least the Horus Heresy book Mechanicus I believe. I could be wrong. I think it would be a safe assumption that the Inquisition would be able to employ some of this technology. I would add one myself, and plan to when I can seriously figure out a way to play an Inguisition list. It has to be done! My Coteaz list would be Coteaz 2x Techmarines, Both with Orbital Bomb Two of these 6x Jokaero Weaponsmiths 3x Acolytes (bare bones) 3x Crusaders Two of these 5x Jokaero Weaponsmiths 4x Acolytes (bare bones) 3x Crusaders Chimera 1496 To reach 2k I would add Vindicare 6x DCA 3x Acolytes 3x Crusaders Chimera Psyrifle Dread And that leaves me 22 points short, which could be wasted on extra armor of the dread lol. Not sure about the techmarines though, I like unlimited range templates though... I don't really think there's another single army with such a low cost of Troops that can make a list without dipping into Elites, FA and HS. Let's see.... if we go least and most expensive henchmen, warriors & the monkeys, at 12 models per squad, 6 squads, each with a chimera that's a low of 618 and a high of 2850 points. a middle ground being 15 points a model for some of them yield 1410 points for 6 units of 12. so we have a decent spread of points throughout. now keeping non-GK in the army, we still have three assassins we can to cover out elites (they're not 0-1, just individually unique{unless that gets FAq'd too}), so around 420 points for three of them. fast attacks only have 2 choices.... so storm ravens it is (just paint it up under non-GK colors and you'll have and Inquisitorial Storm Raven); same goes in Heavy Support as you have Inquisitorial Land Raiders. does not seem all that bad to me even staying within the 6 troop choices. give it a run through,, wildfire, i think you may be surprised at how the points just start flowing pretty nicely. I already have. That's how I know. I've been playing around with as close to pure =I= lists as I can get for a couple months now. It's just not workable for a list I feel is competitive. AoC
People, if you really think that Coteaz gives you unlimited Troops choices, you are going to be massively disappointed when GW FAQs this. I can understand why you are interpreting the rules to come to that silly conclusion, but there exists an equally valid parsing of the text that does not lead to that conclusion. It is exactly as logically and lexically valid to read the Lord of Formosa as completely replacing the normal text with respect to warbands. You cannot automatically assume that your interpretation is correct. Nobody can seriously entertain the possibility that GW intends for GK armies to have unlimited numbers of heavy weapons units. This is the same GW that denied GK units storm shields and terminators any dedicated transports. Good luck trying to break the game. <_< It's never gonna fly in The Real World. Or after the FAQ. We all know this. Time to give the idea up. Not really, as we will not have to take crap Strike Squads just to fill troops requirement. Rule interpretation is totally valid. I would like it better the other way, but RAW does not permit it. (which just remind me how poorly the book is written). Multiple squads of 2 monkey/1 acolyte. Some deathstar unit of 6 assassins, 1 crusader, 4 acolytes packed with Inquisitor in Land Rider. Hellios
Wording may well be different much just to give another option fo how GW could FAQ it... because GW makes weird choices now and again... but like the Emperors Champion it is a HQ that takes no slots (or can be taken in addition to the slots) but also can count as the mandatory HQ... Personally that is how I would FAQ it... So you could have as many squads as you liked and no need for GK troops :D Before anyone says that you could make broken lists with that let me just say... you are wrong :( Personally I think tech marine with orbital bombardment + Jokero weapons smiths and hope for rending would be pretty fun :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226830-funny-coteaz-lists/page/2/#findComment-2720319 Share on other sites
Son of Rawl
Funniest thing I have heard about Cortez and a monkey army, at my local a staffer is planning to build said army with chimera transports but the transports would be modeled to have giant monkey cages with bananas in them. The inquisitors themselves would be modeled as silver back gorrillas :) I hope he pulls this off lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226830-funny-coteaz-lists/page/2/#findComment-2720486 Share on other sites

That unfortunately is not possible even now, but it will be doubly true after the FAQ. Let me have my fun now before it gets ruined! I have to say, as a radical who has a working 1500point none grey knight, grey knight army. it saddens me to hear of others giving up. I understand and agree that it sucks having to spend 100 points an a not so great inquisitor/hq slot jest to have troops for us. but throw him with some monkeys and servitors in the back, and get on with your war. I was pissy too when I went to a league and it was no special characters and my army was not playable. but just leting the grey knights win, that's what GW wants you to do. my new "grey knight" army has been great fun hunting all the pure grey knights running around these days, there is nothing like tabling an army that dose't have arms yet :) . why would you need 57 three men squads of cheese to enjoy this? Edit: Because you can't make a decent Inquisition list in only 6 slots right now. @Wildfire: Challenge accepted. :) I didn't realize there was a challenge. would you like a list or did you figure it out?
