Marshal van Trapp
so in the process of refurbishing my GK i plan to paint them so their armor looks more like marble than metal, i read somewhere that GK armor is silver because they don't paint it, but then why? Are Ceremite plates metal? and they why call them ceremite? so in response to this, i need some advice on how to paint a marble/stone/ceramic scheme on my GK, i know i want it to be white/grey but idk exactly how to go about making it look marble-y Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226844-painting-marblestone/ Share on other sites
Brother Tiberus
This is how I painted the marble on a scenery piece. Link Don't know if this is more or less what you're looking for? Marshal van Trapp
yes actually it is, I would just change around the color a bit, how did you achieve such a design? Brother Tiberus
yes actually it is, I would just change around the color a bit, how did you achieve such a design? Well, I'll try my best to explain it, then just adapt it to your needs: 1.) Started of with a Chaos black coat 2.) Gave it a wash with green (I used the old dark angels ink, but thinned out dark angels green should work fine) 3.) Painted on the initial streak designs with dark angels green with a medium to thin brush 4.) Lined over that with snot green (or two shades of green light than the dark angels, so just skip a pot, then the next one) with a thinner brush 5.) Lined over that with scorpion green (again, 2 shades lighter) with an even thinner brush 6.) Gave the whole thing a thinned out black wash, just to help it blend Done! Hope that helps somewhat... hermanista
Check out Craquelure glaze, http://www.applicraft.co.uk/painteffects.php is where i found it, but you may be able to get it eslewhere. Basically its a two part glaze, that cracks as it dries, so after 24 hours you can paint oil based paint gently over it, then wipe it off, leaving it in the cracks. Awesome stuff from what i've seen, though havent gotten round to ordering any for my own stuff yet. One of the UK golden Daemon winners used it recently, todo the 54mm Ultramarine holding his helm http://www.coolminiornot.com/218198 if you look at the white ceremic pieces, you can see the effect. Im sure you could find his WIP blog of how he went about it. Hope that helps Chris Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226844-painting-marblestone/#findComment-2717182 Share on other sites
