Hey there!

To motivate myself to get more painting done I thought I´d put up my progress so I actually can feel I have achieved something ;) as well as get some tips and such if you brothers and sister have any comments. So I will update this as I finish up my pack.

While I have almost every unit in the codex my main army is Krakendoom based and therefore looks most often like this:

- Rune Priest that goes with GH in rhino.

- Either a Wolf Priest on bike, or when I feel like it, Krakendoom himself (Wolf Lord) on a bike though that model is not finished yet.

- A drop pod with either a Assault Cannon Dreadnaught in it, or sometimes for fun it is a TDA unit.

- 2 GH units in rhino with melta/combi-melta and Powerfist leader (Though I sometimes switch those leaders out for other equipment variants). One of those are joined by the runepriest.

- 1 GH unit in rhino with 2 plasma guns, no leader.

- 1 Bike squad, usually 5-6 bikes + attack bike and pack leader, and as said above Priest or Lord on bike.

- 1-2 Typhoon Speeders

- 2 Long fang packs with Missiles, both having a razorback.

So you can see I try to adhere to the "Lightarmor + bikes + naval" theme to the force.

So onto the models!

Here is the Rune Priest, the usual leader of the force.

A selection of TDA I sometimes use in my drop-pod:

My first Long fang pack, using Hunter-Killer missiles as Launchers:

And finally for this post, my favorite Wolf Guard in Power Armor which is also the leader of my 4th edtion Killteam and sometimes act as pack leader:

When I saw the last pic it was remind me Thrud the Barbarian (i know, the helmet is different, but still...). I like this ultra barbaric apperance.

I'm trying to repaint and remodel my army to Krakendooms myself, so now I will be waiting for your works to steal the ideas;)

Your army looks great so far! Do you think your Wolves look better in grey or is that a Krakendoom thing? Yeah I know SW don't have an internal colour scheme to differentiate the Great Companies but what do you reckon?

That is just me prefering a more "Pre-Heresy" look to it, rather than something to do with the fluff. Though I think grey has a "stern" look to it for a lack of a better word, and since Krakendoom was a warlord even before becoming a Marine I kinda figure them in a no-nonsense kinda way which then fits with the sterness. (Not to say standard color or other GC are nonsense.)

Alright 2 more Long Fangs, coming around slowly but surely and just the Leader left for that pack. Does not help that I have started collecting an Elysian IG army as my Space Wolves Support Company ;)

Used the Camera flash instead of lighting this time, not sure if it was better hehe.

Finally the whole pack completely now!

Not sure what to paint next, either my new Rune Priest or another GH pack.

Well here goes:

Alright finally got around doing my second Rune Priest. I like to use 2 Rune Priest in more competative list, switching out the WP or WL on bike.

Base not done yet as you can see as our group is making a new playing board so waiting to see what basing will fit:

And here is a pic of his brother which I rarely use in this army though, as you can see they have matching armor :woot: ... He is a Wolf Guard Battle Leader:

Not to be the bearer of bad news (cause your models look great) but there's two things you can do to improve them.

Paint your bases a non grey colour. Will make your paint job show better as it won't blend into the base.

The other is in your prep. Mold lines. Don't clip the pieces of the sprues so closely and scrape off the lines with the side of your knife. Will improve your overall finish.

Yeah the base will be desert-ish later so that will be no problem.

And the mold lines is a hassle for me cause I really look for them in my prep work and think I get them all, then somehow I manage to miss some of it just up until I paint them.. must be a blind spot or something :D

What sort of treatment did you use for your gold areas?

Also, I'm not sure if it's due to the camera flash, etc on your previous pics, but this pack looks so much more polished and refined in painting skill level. Very impressive.

For the gold I used Vallejo´s Glorious gold color with a simple layer of Badab Black wash over, with a codex grey-ish spray being the basecoat, I like the slightly matted almost bronze-ish look it gives.

And thank you kindly for your words, I hope it was simply my camera work being poor before rather than my paint, though I need to work on both
