As the title says i need help deciding.should I save up for wolf guard terminators or a Long Fang pack?

I've read some of the other help topics so i'll fill in as much info as I can.

when I play i'll likely be playing agianst my dad(SW army as his main,SoB as his secondary)or a friend of ours(he plays marines.he says he switches the chapters up.meaning 1 time he could play ultras the next he could play blood angels).

i currently have a space marine tacical squad,a space wolve pack,a chaos marine squad(8 guy)(I have the chaos cause I was making a 13 company army),chaos warhounds,a warg, and 2 predators(going to magnetize so i can go rhino/razorback or predator).

any help is appreciated.

it's better to think about what your NOT getting from the two.

Long Fang pack, you don't have enough missile launchers in the box.

Wolf Guard, you don't have any combi-weapons.

Wow.Thanks for the quick reply.

Long Fangs:i'll make a marine from my tactical squad a missile if necessary

Wolf Gaurd:I've only played 1 game(a few years ago ) so i don't really know the advantage of having combi weapons is.

Sort of depends on how your packs are kitted out, but I'd probably go with the Wolf Guard since two predators pretty much takes care of your ranged needs. Wolf Guard TDA are also easily magnetized while I've always had problems with the heavy weapons marines.

EDIT

Combi weapons are very nice for some cheap ranged Anti tank or Anti heavy infantry in your squad. Think of each one being an extra one use melta/plasma gun/flamer shot. They are also pretty easily kitbashed.

for my squads i was thinking 2 squads of GH with WG squad leaders.and probably make a RunePriest and a couple wolf priests and a couple Lone wolves.

Okay, what special weapons are we talking about? My personal favorites for a footslogging list include one 10 man pack with 2x meltas, mark of the wulfen, Wolf guard leader w/ powerfist and combimelta. The other squad is exactly the same, just sub plasma for melta. One squad tackles tanks, one heavy infantry, ranged support (in your case preds) tackles hordes.

i haven't finished my troops yet.i make em up as i go.thats probably not the best way to go but i've come out with some interesting guys :D .

I never leave home without my long fangs. If you already have a missile launcher, you can make a squad with 2 missiles and 2 plasma cannons (and a pack leader) from the fang box. Ideally you want 4-5 missile launchers, but the plas cannon is great for popping marines.

I agree.I run two Long Fang squads.1. 2xmissile launchers, 2x lascanons. This pack has taking out many a tank.Second 2 Plasma canons,2x heavy bolters, this pack has taken out a squad of marines with the canons.

I have also had some luck with the Wolf Guard, first game, guy takes out a blood angels dreadnought with his powerfist.

So what Im getting at,both units are useful and good if used properly. So it really depends if you want more power in the front lines or more cover fire power.

Thats why i'm asking here.I can't decide which one.

Well it really depends on the rest of your army.

But since you already have 2 predators go for the wolf guard. My wolf guard is like this:1 powerfist, bolt pistol,2 thunder hammer, storm shield, 3 twin wolf claws.

Prob not the best load out but i have fun with them.

Im going assault with my army with just 2 long fangs for heavy support and my grey hunters have meltas.

Hope it helped.

usualy use my wolfguard that aren't packleaders as Terminator-armoured wolfguard with dual wolf claws. add a wolfpriest to that and you have a pack of fearless terminators with favoured enemy (reroll to hit) and wolfclaws (reroll to hit/wound) on WS 4 and S 4, all armed with powerweapons, and 4 attacks on the assault. I have yet to encounter an enemy unit that can survive that onslaught. if they're assaulting out of a Redeemer or Crusader, they have the benefit of grenades, thus don't revert to Ini 1 when assaulting into difficult terrain. most players I play against do whatever they can to avoid this unit, and with Logan, they're troops, so they can claim objectives (whcih makes them great for assualting a defending troop over an objective)

now I do usualy play my armies as close combat oriented, and have yet to use my first long fangs pack, (been saving up on deathwind missile launchers from my drop pods to create missile launcher-equiped long fangs) so I can't really make the comparison, but with a few droppods ruining the opponent's manouverability, and a landraider Redeemer or Crusader carying those wolf guard into battle, you can really mess with your opponent's strategy
