Boomstick's Death Guard Extravaganza of DOOM!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Posting my first 40k project ever up here. I've been reading the fluff for about 7 years, and I've even had a couple of boxes of minis since late 2005, but I'd already tried painting some LoTR minis really clumsily before and got very downhearted about it all, so the minis remained pretty much untouched. I got a sweet plan into my head for a DG army in the last year or so, and I've finally got a work space to bring it to life, so I'm gaving a ball now.

I started on my first squad of 7 last night, beginning with the helmets, which are each getting a horn in the centre, and the shoulders, which are getting the Nurgle three circle symbol on each one. The work is pretty fiddley, and I'm going to need to do some extra GS work to make each shoulerpad and helm more unique, but here are some pics of one of the shoulderpads, plus the head lineup:

The head which is drilled through is the first attempt at a helm which is going to have corrogated breathing tubes leading from the sides of the head into either the powerpack or torso.

It's not much of a start right now, but I should be adding to it quite rapidly!

Cheers for looking!

A small update tonight. Most of the last day's work has just been trimming mould lines, drilling weapons barrels and putting together the main body and head of one sample marine so that I can try out my breathing aparatus conversion, but I did have my first encounter with greenstuff last night, which went rather well:

Just a simple shoulderpad, covered in small pockmarks, with the tri-symbol of Nurgle shown in giant holes in the armour, and also a big swollen boil up near the top. The camera doesnt show it up as well as I would like, but I 'm very happy with it for a first attempt. I feel like I may have covered too much of the shoulderpad, and so the extent of GS on this one will probably be a one-off. Anyway, if that turns out to be the worst one of the bunch, and my ability improves with each successive sculpting, I'll be over the moon.
