Techmarine Harkus
Could be cool. With metalic paints, I'm not sure what kind of effect it would generate, since metalic paint is sort of a grey perlcent anyway. If you do go for it, test it on a bit of sprue before a model, to ensure it dosen't melt anything, which is possible. Grand Master Tchezzarus
I've use this product, but not on minis, only on miniature car model. It really shouldn't be use with metalic paint, as it's already kind of metalic, but mixed with what you want to be your main color. It work better with bright /intense color (like apple green/ red/ purple/ dark grey /bone...). In an other post someone really advise against usqing it as it made the minis look like made out of really cheap plastic, so maybe it need larger surface to give a nice effect? But I could insure you that on stuff like a Dreadnought it will work (some of the car's I did were really small, and the roof were just around 1 or 2 square centimeter and it was perfect. Tchezz. henrywalker
ok so it in essence makes a non metallic paint metallic but with a slightly different effect. in my head i'm seeing a sort of mother of pearl type sheen, is that accurate? i might just mix it with a grey and use that. Grand Master Tchezzarus
Nait don't make them metalic, but it make the color change depending on the angle tou see it (think of some paint you may have seen on some tuning cars). Something like that : http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT...YjNYyzkXLxn7M4Q First paint a WHITE base color, them mixe a tiny bit of the "main" color you want to reach in small quantity to the medium, and apply thinly all over. then depending from the angle you look at the surface you'll see your base color or Clearer/darker version of it (Ex : red/purple/blue if you mixed it with purple. it work better if the based color is pale or bright, at least to my litle experience. I used this medium years ago, when I was a kid and used to practice/play whith RC cars, and my Traxxax TRX1 as been paint in may, many type of different paint ... then I began to build some "maquette", and it still work even on smaller surface. As Isay I haven't use it on 40K scale mini's, but for vehicules it will work wonder! And if I finnally began a mech Eldar/Dark Eldar army I will definitly used It again!!! Keep in mind If it don't look metalic, it will look near metalic... I'm not an english speaker and I cant explain it better! If you want the variation in color to be wider you could apply a base color of any type and then an almost trensparent mixed of another color, then another... my father was a mecanics (people who repair/paint car?) and did some amazing work on some of my toys! It will be hard for me to go in a more indepth explanation with my vocabulary, but you'll could find some more usefull info on car forum. What I've notice is that if you use it the easy way (1 color) : -it work better on white primer, -the color you'll percieve will go from your color to the red side of the specter after several edit I'm not sure I'm clear!?!
