Brotherhood Champion alternative models

So i will be fielding a brother hood champion in my new GK army but i don't like the model much. I was thinking of going with the castellan crowe model but i'm not sure its good enough.

i was thinking maybe the master of the arsenal (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1060015&rootCatGameStyle=)

i'd have to GS some robes on him to hide the aquila (GK's don't seem to like the aquila)

any other ideas?

Also i'd like to take him as castellan crowe for some games. so i was thinking of painting him like a purifier. However is crowe the only champion in the purifiers? will people care?

so i had some other ideas for models,

i particularly like the last one but i'm worried if he will be slightly off scale as he is not a space marine.

any way to remedy this?

Hadn't considered Sigvald before. Perhaps he's too 'Blood Angel' for my taste. Good list otherwise, here are some further suggestions:

  • The older, limited edition version of the Emperor's Champion would work well if you can get it on eBay - like this one.
  • Sicarius
  • Kor'sarro [With some extra conversion on top of the storm-bolter - sorry Kor-sarro the top-knot and chubby face has to go]

And last but not least, I'm also considering using (minus the shield unfortunately) - Hector Rex!

EDIT - How could I forget this guy of course. Been around for an age.

As a Templar and Grey knight player i'd advise against the current emperors champion model. While it is a lovly model it is extremly fragile, the sword is guaranteed to break off within the first 3 games. it also breaks at a point that is too thin to even pin.

What I'm going to do it bust out my dark angels upgrade spures and use a robed one the one that's walking then I'm going to glue a pagk head on to it maybe make a hood out of green stuff but I don't really know yet If you wanna see the upgrade thing I'm talking about clicky link.

good ideas, i see what you mean about sigvald, i might actually get him for my BA's. however i love his sword and i think a rapier like that would suit a champion of the grey knights.

so conversion ideas, well the shield annoyingly has to go. i'd have liked to gs it into a storm shield but of course we don't get those. filing off slaaneshi stuff.

anything else people can think of?

one issue is his hand. i take his shield off i'll need a hand from somewhere else. he needs a storm bolter of some sort.

any thoughts

yeah, also i'm not sure about scaling of the piece period. i'm trying to think about how to make him more grey knighty.

he looks a bit too refined and elegant and whilst this is what i think Gks should be like they are not. how can i make him more gkish do you reckon?

As a Black Templar player myself, I've never had an issue with my emperor's champion and he was my first model.

Personally i'm using an Emperors champion. I've entirely taken off his right arm and replaced it with a plastic arm including the nice new GKT sword with the Inquisition I on. Also put a storm bolter on his other arm, given him some more purity seals and some grenades. Looks quite good imo, painting him up atm.

Personally given the fluff of the BC I feel he needs a dynamic pose, he's not a commander so I'm not a great fan of the passive pose (sicarius et al). Also the old BT EC is alot smaller than current models I feel, plus given it's cost it's a shame to cut it up.

Same. Still on my first one, going strong after two years...

Also, I still find it amusing that the Brotherhood Champion model is just the single GK Justicar blister from last edition.

what about ezekial, the dark angels librarian? (im at work so i cant click on the links, sorry if it was suggested). seems like a nice pose and you could dremel that face out or off completely and put your own pagk head on him with a GS hood. should be fairly easy, i sculpted off the heads of 3 techmarines i bought and put on 3 termie heads instead. i liked the way the one in the book looked and they came out real nice.

I would very much like to see these Techmarines, I've been wondering how to Knightify them up, myself.

It'd be great if you posted pictures of them

Has anybody yet gotten ahold of the Crowe model? I've been contemplating using that model as a basis for my Champion, simply chopping off the the blade of Antwyr and replacing with a standard NF sword. Does this seem feasible?

as promised here's the pics
