Cylu
Hi all, I'm currently (and very slowly) writing my own codex for the homebrew chapter I've been using for the last 10+ years - the Marines Penitent. My intention is not to write a bunch of poorly costed houserules, more something in the vein of the old Index Astartes articles with painting schemes, bad fluff and some "special characters". I reckon when I get it finished, it'll be a nice thing to print out and leave next to my army during any best army beauty pageants. Here's a couple of rough pages I've done to see how it all looks (the RW bikes still need to be based). Isiah
Wow can I just say I love your colour scheme :tu:. Many years ago I was a member of a Cub Pack and later a Scout Troop (1st Titchfield in fact). Their identifying neckerchief design was a halved purple and green in exactly the shades you have used. You have made me feel very nostalgic *wipes tear from eye*. As for your Codex idea -- keep at it Cylu. You've made a fantastic start is all I can say. Cheers I Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226973-making-my-own-codex/#findComment-2718661 Share on other sites

Cylu
Thanks guys. Originally they were just purple and gold, but after hearing "oh so they're pre-heresy EC" or "soul drinkers eh?" for the 40,000th time :tu:, I got fed up and added the green. Being DA successors, it seemed like the best colour to use (plus it's soooo easy to work with). I've got to take some more photos of the "greenwing" guys, but they're currently occupied in a 5000 point game on my table. Here's some photos from a game I played a few months ago that show the Tac marines: http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh76/PBrazel/3000%20DA%20WH%20vs%20SM/RightFlank4.jpg http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh76/PBrazel/3000%20DA%20WH%20vs%20SM/Marines-PlasmaSquad.jpg This is from a different game: http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh76/PBrazel/4000%20DA%20GK%20vs%20SM%20WH/Untitled-54.jpg You can clearly see the Chapter Badge on the rhinos. Freehand has always been my achilles heel, but with practice I think it's turned out alright. (Yes, I paint that wreath on every bloody shoulderpad) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226973-making-my-own-codex/#findComment-2718692 Share on other sites
Brother-Sergeant Bohemond
Nice work...I love the colour scheme. Looks really good on the tabletop, nice and bright, and I am veeery impressed with the free-hand. Its my biggest weakness, but, well, I try to get it looking good. Whats the basis for your rules?? DA codex? SM Codex? When i started my homebrew DA codex I basiccly used the SM Codex as a base (I havent finished it yet) and DA'ified it to make it fit with the fluff. HsojVvad
Wow, great job, very well done. I think the added green does make it better and a bit more of a Dark Angels feel to it. I just use these guys as DA - so I'll copy all the rules/stats out of that codex. I'll update the rules using the DA FAQ, so that it's all 100% game legal. (Just less flipping between codex & FAQ) The only difference will be adding the FW options available to DA like the Mortis Dread (taken from the IA2 update) and maybe some Apocalypse suitable additions - like the Thunderfire and Storm Raven. EPK
Very cool. Yes, I think adding the touch of green was a nice way of suggesting their origins. I like the chapter symbol - and you even have at least that one DA shoulder pad from the upgrade sprue that looks like that. I'm curious, wouldn't you like to come up with your own nicknames for the 1st and 2nd companies?
