Khorne Lord Sword

Recommended Posts

Okay so its been nearly forever since I've been to the B&C and I'd taken a break from modeling/painting/40k in general. Over the past Month I've had tons of free time and an influx of disposable income and expanded my CSM army. I've got a defiler I'm gonna glue together tomorrow hopefully and finish my new battleforce. I've also finally collected the things I need for my previously mentioned Juggernaught mount conversion. But I've run into a new problem. Where can I get a really really nice Sword that would compliment a charging Juggernaught with a Terminator Lord mounted on his back? Im looking for something along the lines of a greatsword, something daemonic that would give these new Grey Knights something to flinch at. My buddy whom I share frequent games with picked up a Kaldor Draigo this afternoon and made the unruly comment that he intends to begin hunting my Chaos Termies for their Ivory horns... :HQ:

I have to admit, after laughing uncontrollably for near 5 minutes after that one, I began to think of how true this may turn out to be. Anyone got any other Chaos units that may be able to hold their own against a Draigo? Tomorrow my Khârn will test his Gorechild on Kaldor's shield.

Hopefully after I get the sword idea down I can finish modeling the rider and begin painting. Then I'll begin the painfully slow process of learning how to post pictures haha :P

I've always found that the plastic Khorne Bloodletters' swords are easy to work with and look good just about anywhere, even better on a Khorne-themed army as a nice piece to tie things together thematically. Pommel to tip the sword is about 2 heads taller than a straight-standing Space Marine so for length, it'd be right up your alley. As for the blades, they're jagged along the edge, but the sides are pretty flat and plain, so it's all about how you paint em. Not sure how cheap they are on the bitz markets though since I never really had a need for them in particular, just something I threw onto the odd project or two when I had spares.

I took a look at the Bloodletters swords. I like them, definitely have a cool look to them and a pack of bloodletters is on my list to grab next week, but Im looking for something unique. Something I may not see in a chaos army, or may possibly see rarely but wouldnt see on a chaos lord. I ordered the Chaos Terminator Lord 2 from the GW collectors section but was disappointed by the size of the sword that came with it. I may end up using that yet, but the Bloodletters sword isnt a horrible idea either, one I actually like and may use in conversions for Aspiring Champions's Powerswords Later on.

Thanks for the Idea, thats one I hadn't actually thought of yet. =)

Thats not a bad idea at all. I am a little bit of a masochist when it comes to frustrating challenges. I may have to go down to the local comic shop and pick some up and give that a shot. I've been jealously eyeing the runes on the GW Castellan Crowe Blade of Antwyr design so I think thats the sort of direction I'm moving in painting wise. I've always loved absurdly large yet practical swords having been into swordplay for a few years personally and have taken an interest in various fantasy sword designs over the years.

Find a hellblade from a bloodletter box, or ask a Daemon player, if he ever bought a box of bloodcrushers he'll have one. As far as painting goes I used the style from the Daemons codex. These were my first attempts and in my opinion look better that regular steel blade, and if I was making it Daemon sword, this is what I would use.

Oooh... That is an interesting Idea right there. Idk, I've had my heart set on a daemonic blade. I've even been writing a tad of fluff behind it and the character. I may have to do something like that though. Have you ever seen someone make one I could use for a guideline?

I have seen two Gorechilds mocked up on a custom tube shaft and I have seen it mocked up on Logan Grimnar's axe shaft.

Nothing prevents a double-headed chain axe from discovering that it likes the taste of blood and acquires sentient status. Hahahaha!

Chaos Knights have a plethora of really good weapons and the advantage of having nice baroque armour as well....

Additionally there is a really nice dragon themed long-sword that could be painted up as a demonic weapon from teh High Elves Dragon Princes box, and there is always Archaon's weapon...
