Don the Oiler
Ok i decided to do another Bolt type, this is how it looks like in the Ultramarines Movie (Here you see the concept artwork http://ultramarinesthemovie.com/sites/defa...lery/Bolt_1.jpg). The other i made was actually modeled after a picture from Forgeworld's Imperial Armour VII, which i preferred because it looked more like a common cartridge. The movie version is closer to the other source material and has a more Gothic/Steampunk look, so i gave it a try too. Great, now i can't decide which one to use in the future. http://www.deviantart.com/download/229607812/warhammer_bolter_ammo_2_by_clairegrube-d3spais.png
Something Wycked
This is absolutely genius. Many thanks for posting all these up on B&C, brother. :D Are you familiar with steel core ammo? I think a cutaway of Kraken rounds would look similar. :D
Don the Oiler
Thanks. I'll consider doing a cut-away of all the ammo types once i've made up my mind which design i'll stick with, the Forgeworld or movie version. I have plans for a special "torpedo-bolt" for submarine combat. It will still be rocket propelled, but the projectile uses supercavitation to vaporise the water around it to create a gas bubble and decrease friction. The mode of operation is similar to the russian "Shkval" torpedo, it would be a big help if anyone could provide detailed plans of one  We know next to nothing about how submarine fights work in Warhammer 40K, only that Space Marines and some of their vehicles are capable to operate underwater. Normal Imperial Guard regiments would probably be of little use, even when provided diving suits, their backbone are vehicles with combustion engines. Astartes vehicles are said to be able to close their systems and run on batteries for some time, but auto- and lascannons don't sound like they would work very well in water. In fact, most Imperial weapons systems would probably work better in vacuum than underwater. Ok another update, i made my Stormbolter magazine-fed and loaded it with the new movie bolts to see what it looks like. Unfortunately they're a little short for the long mags, but if i make them (proportionally) bigger, they'll only fit in single-stack, and that means only 5 oder 6 rounds per mag (and that would make a mockery of the whole twin-barrel, dual-magazine stormbolter system). http://www.deviantart.com/download/233542089/warhammer_40k_stormbolter_3_by_clairegrube-d3v1m89.png I have a question: Is it allowed to post LasGuns if i say its for an inquisitorial retinue or would that push the whole Inquisition-loophole to the limits? Chapter Master Ignis Domus
The mode of operation is similar to the russian "Shkval" torpedo, it would be a big help if anyone could provide detailed plans of one  When a ship gets blown up by a torpedo next, we'll know who to blame.
tiny sam
It seem's that Google can "Shkval" torpedo : http://www.periscope.ucg.com/mdb-smpl/images/w0004768.jpg
Don the Oiler
Hehe thanks, thats good enough for me. Here, have some pre-Heresy Combi-Bolter. Its one of my oldest models. I should probably feel embarrassed about it, but i resolved to feel not embarrassed at all as long as all my attempts are pretty noobish. The old fluff said Stormbolters were designed post-heresy, that's why Chaos Terminators used only Combi-Bolters. But since Horus himself had a Stormbolter in the first HH novel, that point is probably invalid.
Don the Oiler
Had this one finished quite a while ago, a heavy-duty, large-calibre Stub Pistol. I made it with working hammer and magazine, and the bolt has a striker and extractor. The design was inspired by an image from Siege of Vraks II. http://www.deviantart.com/download/245272313/warhammer_40k_stub_pistol_by_clairegrube-d4211bt.png
Midas
Can you give the dimensions for this?
Don the Oiler
I didn't really scale it to anything, but it's probably around 10" long, 2" wide and 7" high. The cartridge is huge, at around .7 calibre, but anything smaller would have been too short for the magazine well, or i would have had to make it a bottleneck cartridge, which i think contradicts the idea of the Stub Pistol. Midas
Makes sense and considering the need for low velocity the caliber may not even be a problem.
PanzerSmurf
Nifty designs, very likeable! I Like the Umbra-pattern best, looks more menacing than the others. Also, I like your design of bolts far better than the movie-ones... Just my 0.02€ :).
Don the Oiler
Thanks, though i should point out that it isn't my design, it's basically a picture from Imperial Armour transformed into 3D. If you like the Umbra pattern, how about some Umbra-Ferrox? I'm still not getting the hang of rendering my stuff properly. The metal parts either look like plastic, or they're reflecting so much you can't distinguish one part from another. http://www.deviantart.com/download/251092681/warhammer_umbra_ferrox_bolter_by_clairegrube-d45hscp.png

Krakev
These look *censored* awesome dude. I've had a dabble with SketchUp, and was wondering if there is any way of using it to convert 3D images to 2D nets. Plan was to design some scenery, Imperial bunkers and buildings and then construct them in the real world by printing them onto card. Any ideas? Did I mention that these bolt variations look *bleep*ing amazing?!?
Don the Oiler
There's a program called Pepakura, it creates paper model plans from 3D model files. Just export your Sketchup model as .obj, import it in Pepakura and print it out. I'm not sure if obj is supported, but it shouldn't be too hard to convert it to something readable. OK my Captain Korvydae thunder hammer from the WIP section is finished, thought it post it here too. http://www.deviantart.com/download/252323807/warhammer_40k_thunder_hammer_by_clairegrube-d4686an.png

Don the Oiler
Yeah, but making these models is nothing compared to what's required to get your hands on one of those. Ok so here we have one of two bolter patterns favoured by the Adeptus Sororitas, the other being the Godwyn-Deaz. Smaller in calibre than the Astartes boltguns, this top-ejecting weapon still has enough firepower to make anyone think twice about trying to force a battle sister into anything "rule 34"-related. This particular model also has an optical sight attached to it. http://www.deviantart.com/download/264768991/adeptus_sororitas_bolter_by_clairegrube-d4dmx27.png

Don the Oiler
Thanks. As for force weapons, i did Ludwig Schwarzhelm's Sword of Justice and the Solland Runefang from Warhammer Fantasy Battles, both of which i have seen being used as power swords. Make of that what you want. http://www.deviantart.com/download/195484788/warhammer_solland_runefang_by_clairegrube-d38dx10.jpg http://www.deviantart.com/download/195485022/warhammer_sword_of_justice_by_clairegrube-d38dx7i.jpg
