September Thunder Wolves

I've seen some rumors on BOLS recently about GW possibly sending actual legit Thunder Wolf Cavalry models down the pipe. Has anybody seen what they're going to look like?

Just wondering if there's anyone who's seen them. Was thinking about picking up some knock-off versions, but if there are legit ones down the road, and they're worth it, I might just wait.

If it happens to be true that GW is also phasing out metal miniatures in favor of plastic, then I would say it's safe to assume that we would see thunderwolves in the future. At the very least, that would mean that Canis would become plastic and therefore cheaper and easier to convert.

Just my thoughts.

It been commented on warseer about the release of Thunder Wolves soon, but bare in mind it still rumour so it maybe right it maybe wrong.

Spoke with Forgeworld and they indicated they were denied rights to make thunderwolf cav because GW is doing them in plastic.

The guy I was speaking to said they are already done and slated to be pushed out in September to go along with the big UK GamesDay.

... enjoy you wolf bastages

I'd link the topic, but with recent malware warnings will have to wait until it settle down. The memeber talk to the FW staffer during the Adepticon. Also during the Forge World open day during last weekend it was commented GW will be working on the Thunder Wolves.

If release in Sept be pretty cool. Along with Armour 11, hope see some FW Space Wolves stuff release as well :)

This is the best news I've heard all day!!!

In related news, I heard a rumor today that this summer is being dubbed the Summer of Flight (or something similar) where every army will be given their own flyer or means to combat other armies' flyers. We've seen the Valkyrie and Stormraven recently, next (from what I heard) is to be a necron flyer...?

Anyways, excellent news/rumour regarding the TW. I've waited this long without succumbing to 2nd-hand sculpts. Hopefully GW will do my patience justice.

I've heard this too. My local shop owner came back from a convention last year and said he was clued in to a possible thunderhawk kit that won't cost an arm and a leg. I have doubts about the legitimacy of his claim, but it would be awesome for big point games.

If gw does put out twc it'll be cool, but I do love the wolves I got from mr dandy and I'd hate for them to be made unusable in tourney.

If thats true it lines up with the dark Eldar second (third) wave release in June where I heard they are getting their flyers as well.

Maybe they will finally allow the Stormraven for the rest of the Space Marines, I pla on building few for myself for apoc anyways.

I heard that they worked out a process where they can use the old metal molds, but the model will be resin now. If the speed of discontinuation and replacement is accurate, I would say that the keeping of the old molds would almost certainly be true. There's no way they could replace all those molds in that amount of time.
The only thing I can think of as to why GW would FINALLY be doing this would be for some WHFB compatibility. The existing plastic wolves are used by the Space Wolvesas Fenresian Wolves as well as the Goblin Army for their Wolf Riders. If GWhas witheld rights/permission for FW to produce them, then there would probably be something introduced or resculpted critter to be used somehwere in WHFB. Just my WAG but it fits GW's M.O. best I can figure it.
Now this is trictly speculation and a summary of rumors and bits and pieces I've heard. As I recall can't find where to cite it but 'didn't people think Canis was GW testing the waters with Thunderwolves? And the public outcry against Canis was pretty intense at one point (I confess he grows on me) But if they had Thunderwolf concepts already made and people hated them and they had to completely redo the concewpts and sculpts September could be a reasonable release date yes? Also taking into account the plastic Bloodcrushers I think its reasonable to assume that the new thunderwolves will be similarly priced and sized with a three pack of thunderwolves. I just don't know how many other bits and interchangability they will make, or in standard GW fashion they make Wolf Lord Box in plastic that comes with a thunderwolf and all sorts of other wolf lord goodies but to get a squad you'd have to buy 3 plastic character kits, which gives us more goddies to play with but raises the total price to make a thunderwolf squad. What yall think?
That was pretty much my thoughts too. Canis was a "test the waters" model - a special character made in metal. I'm sure if there was more love for the model then we would have seen plastic TWC sooner. Considering the model didn't sell too well, I think they took them back to the drawing board and hopefully they were paying attention to what the 3rd party guys have been doing.
