thornz
IMHO there are only 2 Weapons worth taking: 1. Greatsword: Rules are good, its relativly cheep, Looks AMAZING! 2. Heavy Incinerator: Relativly cheep, & who doen't like a the Hellhounds abilities mashed onto a tough as nails MC! Saying that though I will be taking NEITHER! The best milage you will get is Bare Bones Dreadknight running in midfield as counter CC and fire distraction unit. I will only include the Greatsword is I have the points spare (year right) mostly for the amazing asthetics! Zagman
I'm planning on running a 1500 draigo wing list (draigo, 15 pallies dreadknight), and am including a dreadknight, with sword, incinerator and personal teleporter. while 260 points its still the cheapest unit in my army, and I'll be expecting to use it to scout forward and be a nice big threat to help my pallies survive, as there is no gun in the army with a better range then 24 inches, I think it will be quite challenging. My only wonder about this list, is if I should replace it with 2 naked dreadknights. better target saturation, but then they are less of a threat.. I feel that in a terminator/paladin heavy list they need to have the personal teleporter, in a regular list its not as needed. Looking at the weapons, I think the incinerator is the way to go. Gatling Psylancer just doesn't seem all that great 12 str 4 shots (unless its shooting at daemons), its the same as 6 storm bolters. The heavy psycannon also seems a bit meh to me. This is all theory of course, as I haven't gotten around to either buying the units, or having used stand ins. I run Driagowing...and have 2.5k worth. It is fun, you need PT on those dreadknighs period. I preferr Driago, 10 paladins, 2 GS PT HI DKs. I love this army. The dreadknights work wonders at forcing your opponent to turn their choice weaponry away from your paladins. Oh, and I have not been scout shunting my DKs, I don't believe it will be FAQed that way and will not use/abuse that ability until it says I can. Hopefully by Ard Boyz. Brother Dylan
Still in the process of testing the effectiveness of dreadknights myself, but so far I'm a fan. Teleports are real nice, makes him an urgent threat that must be dealt with. Swords are ok but so far haven't been to great, incinerator is pretty decent, but still not sure if its worth the points or not yet. nurglez
I was going to discuss the scout shunt move thing with my friend's, but I'm assuming I cant do that, as its better to plan for not being able to do something until the faq comes out :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227145-the-best-dreadknight/page/2/#findComment-2722500 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
The ranged options are pretty underwhelming. Heavy failencer is meh, we have storm bolter everywhere. Heavy incinerator is likewise meh, because we don't lack anti-infantry firepower. Heavy psycannon is the only one I'd bother with, and only if you have spare points. Rending large blast means it's quite variable, but with servo-skulls you could make it work. The mandatory upgrades are greatsword and teleporter. I've had three games with mine so far with this loadout, and he never disappoints. Eats vehicles and walkers quite handily, ties up most infantry quite handily, and his mobility is insane. I've had him hopping around the board, eating infantry and tanks my Strike squads failed to kill. His teleport shunt also worked to great effect, letting me zip back to my own objective to kill an infantry squad threatening it. He dies to assault Terminators and massed plasma/melta, but then again what doesn't? All in all, I'm quite happy with his performance, certainly more so than the two Rifleman Dreadnoughts (who rolled 1's and 2's for damage results all game). number6
I will only include the Greatsword is I have the points spare (year right) mostly for the amazing asthetics! You could always model the sword on for cool looks but never actually pay for it. I wouldn't have any problem with that. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227145-the-best-dreadknight/page/2/#findComment-2722822 Share on other sites
