Ira Imperator Sumus!

I'm posting this here as the start of what I intend to maintain as a development thread for my force.

I've always been drawn to the DA as a chapter- I remember seeing the cover of the Space Marine box set back in middle school, with the dark-armored force of DA on the front, one of them supercharging a plasma cannon, and thinking what a pack of <_< !!! To me, the Dark Angels have always come back to that, a grim, hard-bitten force of supermen. The robes and torches and Watchers in the Dark all came later, and they're cool, but I want to build an army centered on the Rogue Trader spirit of rough men doing violence to the enemies of Humanity.

To that end, the paint scheme is intentionally very dark:

I'm going to only highlight the armor up to about a 50/50 mix of DA Green and Snot Green. Instead of red bolter shrouds, I'm doing them up in bone, as with the pistol on this model.

The list is a drop pod assault force, all PA, currently planned for 3 Tac squads, 2 Sternguard (Company Veterans), the Company Master (counts as a Chapter Master, since I'm going old school and you used to be able to buy Orbital Bombardment as a Heavy choice), and an Honor Guard. I haven't worked out points totals yet, but the ultimate goal is to build out to about 2000.

Formal list to follow, along with more pics of models under construction.

++ Edited. Fixed image link issue for you. But mind the bad language. I ++

Firefox shouldn't be the issue.

Inserting images is easy (or should be). Simply surround the image url with

[img]...[img]

tags thus, the code below was how I inserted your image:

The image must of course be online somewhere, either in your gallery here at the B&C or on some image hosting site such as inageshack etc.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

@HsojVvad- you can't see it very clearly in the pic, but the joints have been painted black and drybrushed grey to bring up the striation. Since the model hasn't been dull-coated yet, the glare conceals some of that.

So, here's the newest pic:

Bolters are to be painted separately, to make the chest details easier to get.

Steps so far:

1. assembly- every model has grenades or ammo pouches, or both- no soldier goes into combat without reloads if he can help it (unless he's supremely[\i] confident in his marksmanship- I'll include marksman honors on the models without ammo)

2. primed Chaos Black, then filled in any missed spots with thinned-down paint.

3. very heavy drybrush of DA Green, hit joints with Codex Grey

4. thinned-down wash with Badab Black

5. careful drybrush again with DA green to bring tone back up on high points.

6. Scorched brown on chest eagles, skulls. Mechrite Red on purity seals. Snakebite Leather on ammo pouches. Devlan mud wash on ammo pouches.

And that's where they are as of right now.
