imperious
A friend of mine helped me convert up a dreadknight tonight. It took a while, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Wanted to post it up here to get some reactions and comments. Critiques are also welcome! http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p97/kjj1988/Grey%20Knights/IMG_0465.jpg We tried to give it a more dynamic look and we turned the great sword into a bastard sword/halberd. Repositioning the legs was giving us hell, so we just scrapped the terminator and added the sarcophagus. I think it looks much better as a dreadnoughtish thing then with the terminator strapped to the front. Anyway, let me know what you think! Brother-captain Samuel
i prefer the termie but i love the halberd Seconded. personnaly, i think a venerable front blows the termie out of the water Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227274-dredknight-conversion/#findComment-2722274 Share on other sites
commander alexander
The halberd is awesome, and I agree a sarcophagus looks much better than a termy strapped to the front. The strapped thing might be a cool techmarine look, but not on the dreadknight, it just doesn't 'click' for me. Warsmith Aznable
I agree with the Venerable front. The regular Dreadnought front is OK, but the Venerable options are the best I've seen by far. I am not against the idea of the "Aliens" style walker, I just don't like how it looks with the kit. Anyway, it's a very nice conversion. DeathKorpsman
Looks like you made it a fair bit shorter too, am I correct? I like that, since it more closely resembles the stocky looks of a terminator rather than some gangly exoskeleton someone would use to move crates around in an Imperial warehouse. imperious
No, we didn't shorten it all. I think the torso looks a lot shorter without the terminator though. dublindawg
I really really like it. I am now almost tempted to pick one up and attempt a conversion like this. But it does mean getting a ven dread as well. Maybe good ole ebay will yield one on the cheap. Loyalist
I was going to try to graft the turret from a Stormraven onto the torso but after seeing your conversion will use a spare Venerable Dreadnought sarcophagus. Very nice model and much better looking without the termie strapped on front. DeathKorpsman
Must be the terminator then. Something about the stock model just makes it seem gangly to me. Still imposing, don't get me wrong. The dread front you're using just makes the whole thing come together way better. imperious
Dublin, you might be able to get one on the cheap from a bits site, but if you do end up getting the ven dread kit it comes with multiple sarcophagi so you'll still get a full dreadnought out of it too. There was some trimming and gap filling to do, we used the angel wings from a raven wing bike but the ven dread kit comes with plenty of panels to gothic the dreadknight up and fil those voids left by removing the terminator. I like the concept of the stock dreadknight, but I think their exucution of the idea was pretty bad. Also, the model is not customizable at all. It took quite a bit of time and cutting to get this pose. The frustrating thing is that a lot of the connections are almost ball and socket joints, but theres a slot fit or it's a cube instead of a ball fitting. The stock model is really close to looking very good and being very customizable, but it falls short, and that's the worst part about it IMHO. Firepower
Wicked! Now that looks like something that could cut a Greater Demon in half. And I concur: the torso switch looks ace. commander alexander
I just wish they made the hammer the same scale. The sword blade looks wicked and proportional..... The hammer just looks like an over sized termy one. Thanks for the feedback. I called over to my LGS and they had both the Dread Knight and the Ven Dread kits in stock, last one of each :) . They have been put aside for me to pick up on Friday when I can make by the store. I as also able to have them put aside the last metal Libby they had as well. Oh Friday can't come soon enough!! Eorek
Awesome conversion dude... I intend to do something simular to my dreadknight once I assemble it... though seeing the complete thing really gave me some motivation : > Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227274-dredknight-conversion/#findComment-2723046 Share on other sites

V Dubbed
I love it! The subtle leg re-pose really helps bring the model to life and the halberd looks stellar. My only nit-pick would be the armor on the forearms (vambraces?). It's too bad there isn't a way to keep that armor lined up so the hole for that hydraulic ram doesn't just end up in space... but I digress.... I've built a NDK myself so I know exactly why they ended up like that. Either way, top notch conversion and you're opponents should be shaking in their boots when that thing starts wading onto the field! Kudos! imperious
Ironically, its from the seekers of slaneesh box. Also, the wings looked gothic and they fit in the gap almost perfectly. And I thought about trimming that piece with the hole off. It's kind of a minor thing so I'll probably leave it.
