Bases

There is some GW mutterings about the base of a model can't be smaller than the one provided, but can be bigger if you want. Most people take this to mean the overall area (or footprint as you say). Depends on your definition of 'smaller'. I've seen people make the stem of flying stands shorter on all sorts of things to give a lower profile for gaining cover. On the other hand the height of the stem on the 'raven (and Valkyrie/Vendetta) does make it difficult for opposing models to hide.

Theres nothing horribly illegal about him modifying the base a bit. Seriously.

If he puts the stormraven at ground level, its still a huge vehicle. Dont sweat the small stuff.

Besides, the base is the black plastic part. The clear part? Thats a flying stem... not to be to technical about it but the whole setup is supposed to be ignored accoring to the rules, as its a skimmer- and bases make no nevermind to skimmers.

Only Tau have that sort of sophisticated technology

Did you say no, or did he continue to make up rules?
