Grand Master Raziel Secundus
Hi folks Recently GW announced they were no longer going to use metal for their line of figures. Soon the stocks they have will be gone and with no announcement of alternatives, many models we use (Azreal, Sammael, Ezekiel...) will become collectors pieces. So my point is this. Does it mean we may (soon) see replacements in plastic of key models or has GW really gone and eliminated the supply without thinking of what to replace it with? I know this could be good if they come out with something to take the place of the figures that are going and from what I hear, the metal models are not going to last very long.... Crimson Fisting
Hopefully we see sweet resin or plastic updates of all the DA characters. Grand Master Belial
The talk on the News forum is that GW is indeed planning to transition to resin due to the costs of metals going up. The question now becomes what resin will the use and will it allow master modelers to convert them without worrying about harmful resin dust. Hugebill
We can only hope they dont use the oh-so-easy to break resin from forge world... Man I hate that material so much, a real pain in the arse... I nearly regretted buying that delicious DA venerable dread.. nearly.. What do you mean by armfull, it's toxic? Bryan Blaire
Yes, some types of resin can cause lung damage similar to asbestos and some types are known carcinogens. I've never read the warnings on the Forgeworld stuff, but I've always heard from people that if you are going to be scraping/cutting/shaving and such on Forgeworld models, you should be doing it in a well ventilated area (like on the patio/porch/in the garage with the door open) with a dust filtering mask on. If that's true and that's what GW decides to use, that's unfortunate, but if it provides better models, so be it. Just remember to wash the resin stuff as well or better than the plastics, I hear it helps. Interrogator Stobz
FW resin is fine, they have rules for toys for kids. on the bright side of working with resin, it will make conversions of our previously difficult robed guys much easier... wewill need to be careful about not breaking swords etc though :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227531-this-could-be-bad-or-good-but-which/#findComment-2726242 Share on other sites
Grand Master Raziel Secundus
Well, lets hope they remodel the current line instead of just a rehash of the old line. I also hope they take the opportunity afforded here to bring out some figures for our characters that have disappeared and one for Baliel.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227531-this-could-be-bad-or-good-but-which/#findComment-2727588 Share on other sites
Brother Kovash
As long as we can get Asmodai back I'll be a happy man. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227531-this-could-be-bad-or-good-but-which/#findComment-2728991 Share on other sites
Droma
From everything I've read the stuff FW uses is only harmful till it cures(aka in the factory) after that its no more harmful than the metal dust you'd breathe in from filing metal models. I can't imagine GW using anything potentially harmful with all the child safety laws in the US and England considering how many 12 year olds play.
