Brother JD
Greetings Brothers and Sisters, I'm a bit new and wet behinds the ears in regard to playing 40K, but I've been a lurker of these forums for the past few years. Silent Requiem's "The Way of the Water Warrior" first drew me in. Since then, B&C has been my primary means of insight into the 40k Universe. I started with Necrons in 4th, became bored rather quickly, then began my affair with the lovely gothic DH about two years ago! Can't get enough :) So onwards to my question(s). This goes out to those who've been around the block, as I think wisdom will help here. There are a lot of characters/unit types in C:GK but they're obviously not all available to purchase at GW or FW. What are your opinions on GW/FW releasing more models than currently available? I see Eldar models being released one after another after another on FW. Is there some sort of schedule for model release? If so, I'm sure we're in quite the line to wait. I know FW is a different beast, but I'd love to see more released for our beloved GK. Currently missing: Mordrak. Inquisitor Valeria. Thawn. Our own Dreadnought; via GW Our own Ven. Dread. Our own Inquisitors with different wargear options. Our own Henchmen; is this too much to ask? Our own Techmarine; or are they out on loan from SM? - JD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227533-dhgk-question-on-future-new-model-releases-from-gwfw/ Share on other sites
Drudge Dreadnought
I don't think most of those really need their own models. Mordrak and Thawn don't, as they have no special wargear going that isn't provided by the normal terminator kit (unlike Draigo and Crowe.) The Inquisitors would be nice, as the current line doesn't really represent their options much. A flexible Inquisitor plastic kit could go a long way. Dreads aren't really needed. The generic plastic kits do just fine. Making a whole other kit just for some heraldry isn't really worth it. GK techmarines aren't any different from normals except for some bling that can be gotten from the plastic kits. Henchmen models already exist. Master_Matteo
id personally be more interested in seeing one general dready kit, has parts to make the normal or ven. or iron clad and has all the weapon options. (id imagine a kit like this though would cost around 50-60 usd) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227533-dhgk-question-on-future-new-model-releases-from-gwfw/#findComment-2726038 Share on other sites
StormTAG
I think it'd be awesome if they released a Terminator Hero plastic kit like they already have for power armor. They could include enough bling that you could make them out as Grey Knight or Regular Marine heroes. Valkyrion
I'd expect the GK range to be considered complete to be honest. There are already three women inquisitors, plus the escher range, for Valeria and there is no picture of her so no one knows what she looks like. Same with Mordrak and and Thawn. There are already OH, OM and a FW OX inquisitor. New Henchmen would be nice, but everything is available one way or another. FW make dreads. The Techmarine and dreads only need one or two icons that you'll have left over from the GK boxes anyway. Apart from TWC and Arjac for the wolves there is nothing in any power armour codex that can't be bought from GW or FW. Drudge Dreadnought
A plastic terminator commander would be cool, but I understand why they don't have them. In all the other codices, terminator commanders have pretty much all the same options, and those are nothing you can't make from the normal terminator box. The only thing missing was a way to make a plastic terminator librarian and apoth, but you can do that now with the GK terminators. In general, terminator captains are just...bad. Like, really bad. So, I don't think we'd see much demand. AlexHolker
Our own Dreadnought; via GWOur own Ven. Dread. The Space Marines don't need any more damn Dreadnoughts, you've got five already. Marmande
I'd gladly trade the Dreadknight for a GK Dreadnought kit but that's me. :) That said, I agree that the range is mostly complete, you can just kitbash/convert stuff to make it stand out as a special model. Brother Dylan
I would like to see a model for Valeria personally. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227533-dhgk-question-on-future-new-model-releases-from-gwfw/#findComment-2726624 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
The Space Marines don't need any more damn Dreadnoughts, you've got five already. Shared over how many Codexes? 6? And how many Varients? It's like the new PAGK box. ZOMG not another Marine Box!!! But it's 1 box to fill 4 Units in the Dex. So no, there's not really enough yet. (On the other hand, I thought missing GK stuff form the Furisos Kit was a masive mistake...) Vash113
Well given the Codex release procedure we have seen from GW I'd expect a second wave of models in around 6-10 months. In that second wave I am expecting a Dreadnought Kit and a perhaps a Techmarine with Conversion Beamer. The rules for the conversion beamer have been around for quite some time since the 5th Edition Space Marine codex came out but the Grey Knight codex is the first time we have seen actual new artwork for what one looks like, I wouldn't expect an actual model to be too far behind. As for the Grey Knight Dreadnought, while yes the normal or Venerable dread kits do an alright job, the artwork from the Codex provides some interesting alternatives. A kit that provides the Grey Knights with a Dreadnought body equipped with a psychic hood like shown in the Codex would be nice, and it would be a great opportunity to include plastic versions for twin linked autocannons, heavy bolters and heavy flamers that are currently only available from Forge World. I would also expect an Inquisitor Valeria model, while yes there are a couple female Inquisitor models Valeria does have some very unique wargear not represented by the current models. A plastic general Inquisitor kit would also make sense and would be very nice, especially given the nearly bewildering variety of options involved. Sothalor
Also as a personal note, I think the current female inquisitors are, well, ugly. They're also much more "Ordo Hereticus" than "Ordo Xenos," which Valeria belongs to. I'd love to see a Valeria model comparable to say, Lilith.
