Peacefuloblivion
I'm by no means a vet here. I've been playing 40k for a few months now via proxy. I decided to pick up an army and after much debate went with GK. I slapped together a 1750 list tonight and was just curious if anyone had any advice, or any thoughts at all. Any help would be appreciated actually. (Thought running my first list with stock units would give me a better idea of how to run em.) Total Points: 1745 HQ-1 E-0 Tr-3 FA-1 HS-3 HQ - Lord Kaldor Draigo (1 model) - 275pts ---------------------------- 1 Draigo - 275pts Weapon1: The Titansword Weapon2: Storm Bolter and Storm Shield Other Options: Psyk-out Grenades, Hammerhand, Psychic Communication, Sanctified Flame Troop - Paladin Squad (10 models) - 550pts Options: Psyk-out Grenades - 0pts ---------------------------- 10 Paladin - 550pts Weapon1: Nemesis Force Sword Weapon2: Storm Bolter Troop - Grey Knight Strike Squad (5 models) - 100pts Options: Psyk-out Grenades, Hammerhand, Warp Quake - 0pts ---------------------------- 1 Justicar - 20pts Weapon1: Nemesis Force Sword Weapon2: Storm Bolter Other Options: 4 Grey Knight - 80pts Weapon1: Nemesis Force Sword Weapon2: Storm Bolter Troop - Grey Knight Strike Squad (5 models) - 100pts Options: Psyk-out Grenades, Hammerhand, Warp Quake - 0pts ---------------------------- 1 Justicar - 20pts Weapon1: Nemesis Force Sword Weapon2: Storm Bolter 4 Grey Knight - 80pts Weapon1: Nemesis Force Sword Weapon2: Storm Bolter Fast Attack - Stormraven Gunship (1 model) - 205pts ---------------------------- 1 Stormraven - 205pts Weapon1: TL Assault Cannon Weapon2: TL Heavy Bolter Other Options: Fortitude, Four Mindstrike Missles, Ceramite Plating Heavy Support - Nemesis Dreadknight (1 model) - 130pts ---------------------------- 1 Dreadknight - 130pts Weapon1: 2 Nemesis Doomfists Weapon2: None Other Options: Dark Excommunication, Hammerhand Heavy Support - Nemesis Dreadknight (1 model) - 130pts ---------------------------- 1 Dreadknight - 130pts Weapon1: 2 Nemesis Doomfists Weapon2: None Other Options: Dark Excommunication, Hammerhand Heavy Support - Land Raider Crusader (1 model) - 255pts ---------------------------- 1 Land Raider Crusader - 255pts Weapon1: TL Assault Cannon Weapon2: 2 Hurricane Bolters Other Options: Fortitude, Smoke Launchers, Frag Assault Launchers Combat squad the Paladins, put 5 in the land raider with a unit of GK's. March the other 5 behind the land raider with the two Dreadknights escorting. Storm Raven in reserve carrying the other unit of GK's with Draigo. I realize stock units leaves little room for flexibility and understandably would sac a unit of GK's for Psycannons on the paladins and great swords on the dreadknights or hell Idk its late, been at this for a bit now. Thanks in advance for the suggestions. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227556-new-to-grey-knights/ Share on other sites
Grand Master Caloth
Combat squad the Paladins, put 5 in the land raider with a unit of GK's. March the other 5 behind the land raider with the two Dreadknights escorting. Storm Raven in reserve carrying the other unit of GK's with Draigo. You realize you cant have two seperate units in a transport togther outside of apocolypse rules... so how does that work? Peacefuloblivion
I did not. so only one unit can be in any one transport at a time.. good to know. Like I said, I'm still learning. Went from proxy army lists with friends to dropping close to a grand on an army lol. templargdt
Welcome to the Grey Knights! With the new book only a few days officially released, I think people are still feeling out what works 'best', which is a subjective thing itself. I firmly believe if you like the models, play them. Having said that, for a 1750 game, Drago is too rich for my blood. I plan on using a Librarian for my HQ, 3 units of Strike Squads in Rhinos, a Land Raider Redeemer, a pair of Psybolt Dreads and some sort of escort for the Librarian, probably purifiers. Something like this: Librarian: Halberd, Hammerhand, Might of Titan, Shrouding, Quickening 10 Man Strike Squad (2 Psycannons, Demonhammer, Rhino) 10 Man Strike Squad (2 Psycannons, Demonhammer, Rhino) 10 Man Strike Squad (2 Psycannons, Demonhammer, Rhino) Land Raider Redeemer (Multimelta) Dreadnought (2x Twin Linked Autocannons, Psybolts) Dreadnought (2x Twin Linked Autocannons, Psybolts) 8 Purifiers (2 Psycannons, Demonhammer, 5 Halberds) Total off my memory 1732, add powers/mastercrafts to flavor. Peacefuloblivion
I do really like the librarian. I'd like to try running him, with a unit of 10 purifier squad, (combat squad) grand strategy shield of blades or spear of light. 3 GK strike squads 3 rhino a land raider crusader, venerable dread, storm raven. 1620 with room for options. I suppose I should get my army assembled and painted before I go running into combat lol. The assassins could be fun too....
