carnosaur93
hey all. i was wondering, is it possible for members of the mechanicus to be psykers? or would they even wanna train one their skills? i dont recall ever having heard of such an instance atleast... iam wondering since iam making a count-as typhus character in my dark-mech army (not chaos-style-dark)... and if so, how to show on the model he's a psyker without the iconic psychic hood? (as its not included in typhus wargear) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/ Share on other sites
Razrhaghul
i'm sure that there can be mechancius psykers, though i can't think of any examples of any off the top of my head. have you heard of electro-priests?..not psykers, but they channel electrical power through their bodies via electoos and release them as attacks. carnosaur93
hmm... not a bad idea. powerfull electoos could actually represent typhus' two powers quite well. aswell as channeling that through his weapon to represent the force-weapon / poison effect... perhaps what can set this character apart from the normal termies would be to actually have appearance of flesh (arms or something with the patterns on them), as opossed to the rest of the army... then comes how to represent FNP... BassWave
You are seriously wondering how you'll represent fnp? With bionics of course! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/#findComment-2729196 Share on other sites
carnosaur93
problem is fitting in both lots of exposed electoos AND bionics... i simply dont think that posibble :S Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/#findComment-2729454 Share on other sites
Razrhaghul
nah, it's possible if the torso is still armored you can have what the older metal-chaos torsos had with large ribbed cables... have power flow around them, or from the powerplant up in the bare-armed triceps/underarms, while still having the electoos on the delts/biceps, etc. or you could do full upper-body bare-chested with termie legs and some kind of powerplant mounted on his back with electoos and cabling leading to-from it, with termie legs. they have imbedded conductive material in their skin leaving themselves exposed to the world, they'd have to have rewired their pain synapses...plus a half naked fleshie-admech says more to enduring the trials of combat over lower menials who need machine bits and body armor to survive :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/#findComment-2729953 Share on other sites
Ithaqua
What is the actual position of the mechanicus on psykers? I personally have never heard of any mech-pyskers (barring the new Ward-era Grey Knights) and think that the mechanicus would abhor it as the ultimate weakness of the flesh but is there any official literature on the subject? Might the Omnissiah AKA the Void Dragon be deliberately steering the mechanicus away from pysker related nonsense? Hyaenidae
Ladies and Gentlemen, please go find your old Codex: Eye of Terror (probably being used as an old coaster like mine, lol), and turn to page 16, Force Dispositions. Under the 'Notable Adeptus Mechanicus' section, you'll find an entry labeled 'Divisio Telepathica Psi-Titans........Numbers Classified'. Not sure if this has ever been retconned, but if not, it would show that the AdMech not only has an intrest in psychic powers but they've built an entire division devouted to it, complete with freakin' psychic titans!!!! "I see you! ZAP!" *picks up a traitor baneblade with psychic powers, and chucks it across the field....* Food for thought.... ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/#findComment-2731478 Share on other sites
MagicMan
then comes how to represent FNP... Have him hold a wine cup. Seems to work. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/#findComment-2733559 Share on other sites
Bannus
Grey Knight Techmarines are psykers - and the AM trains them. So they don't seem to have an issue with psykers. Add to that the Armageddon fluff listed above - it seems the AM may well have invested in psykers of some kind. carnosaur93
nice. that solves it  ill make a mostly unarmored termie-guy... my idea is a something along the lines of a rather powerfullish biomancer. so he is able to withstand letting so much power flow through his body without dieing (along with FnP and not having to wear so much armor) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/#findComment-2762915 Share on other sites
DarthAngel
· Hidden by thade, March 25, 2014 - Thread necro. Hidden by thade, March 25, 2014 - Thread necro. Or if you think the idea of an Ad-mech psyker wierd/wrong/out of place, you can do as I did. I use DA Librarian rules for my Tech-priest. For the fluff he's a logis (look it up from wiki) and to represent his complicated methods of calculating the outcome in the middle of firefight I normally use Divination build (re-roll-based powers are great for this fluff!) Hope I brought up opinions and even solutions. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227572-techpriestsmarines-as-psykers/#findComment-3632044
