soots
looks sick howd you do the bronze? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227585-my-dreadknight/#findComment-2726591 Share on other sites
The Holy Heretic
The bronze is quite simple, simply a black undercoat drybrushed with vallejo brassy brass. The dirty bronze is a theme in the army as a whole, every model is based on dark ground, with bits of bronzed metal jutting out - a great contrast to the silver knights - and all weapons and mechanical bits are bronzed too. The idea is to give it a sort of steam punk look, I think goes well with the 40K imperial setting  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227585-my-dreadknight/#findComment-2726606 Share on other sites
Doghouse
Very nice stuff! The bronze works really well and you've done a great job repositioning the legs as well. Most just leave the terminator hanging but I'm glad to see you've got the extra step repositioning his legs as well. Brovius
That's a really cool sword effect. May I ask how you did it? I'd love a tutorial  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227585-my-dreadknight/#findComment-2726689 Share on other sites

Most just leave the terminator hanging but I'm glad to see you've got the extra step repositioning his legs as well. I was sorely tempted to just be lazy and skip the termie legs, but I knew that whenever, I'd look at that those dangling legs, I'd regret it. The posture did come out a bit awkward though, but I blame GW for never even considering how this thing would actually be able to move  That's a really cool sword effect.May I ask how you did it? I'd love a tutorial  Thanks. The 'burning sword' effect is actually quite simple, especially on a large surface like the greatsword. Start by taking your darkest flame colour - in my case vallejo midnight blue - and make some random curved brush strokes down the blade, proceed with a lighter tone while gradually working away from the edge, untill you use a pure white for the 'hottest' area. I actually learned this from Mike Lavalle - or at least watching him TruFlame cars on the Discovery channel :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227585-my-dreadknight/#findComment-2726711 Share on other sites
toaae
This is great! Good job. My favorite Dreadknight I've seen, that's for sure. Also, I'm going to try out that "burning sword" effect. Captain Psycho
DOOOOOOOD your NDK is freakin' bad@ss!!! I love the pose, it screams "COME GIT SOME.". Was it hard dipping the whole model in awesomesauce? Because that's what you did brother, that's what you did. In all seriousness how hard was it to reposition the back leg? Such a simple change that makes the model so much more dynamic.
