kizzap88
So I was looking through the tutorial archive, and saw the tutorial on how to sculpt easy yet decent looking fur lining around the shoulders, and thought that would look cool on a biker, so I started putting the fur around on the shoulderpad/neckline area. However the thought occurred to be that it really isn't too fluffy to have a fur lining at all on the minis, and got to thinking on how I could 'legitimize' having the fur lining. looking through the codex, there are animal references however they more or less align themselves with birds. However when I look at the Primarch I can see a reference to lions which I was wondering how well I could tie that idea into a converted bike and have a lion's head on the front mudguard (which will be a fun conversion in itself) and tie it in that way. Just wondering if anyone would think that is a silly idea I guess -kizzap Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227664-army-themes/ Share on other sites
HsojVvad
While alot of sculpts look awsome making El'Jonson have a lion head or lion fur, I roll my eyes. I don't think he would have any Lion symbolism at all on him. All it reminds me is of Eddie Murphy's Father In Coming to America, and I don't see our Primarch that way at all. I know DA have lots of symbolism from feathers and it's suppose to come from North American Indians, but I don't know when it started or as to why or the reason it is. Maybe someone can explain it. I would not use fur or lions fur to resemble DA. The only time I would use fur would be for the DA that want to be related to the Calibianites who hunted Beasts that were hunted down on Calibian. Maybe something like Calibian Knights or Warriors and be like Honour Guard or Royal Guard. If you like it, then do it, always do what you think is cool, but lion furn, I would not think of this as DA at all. Never seen in fluff or pictures, it is all but in name only. We don't have any Cubs Brigade or anything like that. We don't have the Lions Paws or The Lions Mantle of what ever, so for me at least, no, I wouldn't do it. I think it's a great idea though to represent the creatures that were hunted though. kizzap88
This is what I thought too. I guess I could just use the model as a sarg, and use the fur to differentiate between his and his squad. interesting idea though to use it as a mounted trophy sort of thing. I guess if I do something like that I could just use any form of animal really...very interesting. thanks for your thoughts. -kizzap Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227664-army-themes/#findComment-2727966 Share on other sites
IanSturrock
The Native American symbolism comes from some very nicely written fluff about the Deathwing in Space Hulk (1st Edition). It's all about the DW recruiting from warrior tribes on a Plains World.
