biglou666
hi, biglou here, one paticular player at my local GW does not like me taking a psycannon on my justicar, as he says that the justicar isnt technically allowed it due to the wording in the codex. ...for every five models in the squad, one [b'terminator'][/b] may take:.... he says that only 'Terminators' may take heavy weapons, and not the 'Terminator Justicar', as the title differs. i definetly think this is a ridiculous claim, as the 'terminator justicar' is still obviously counted as a terminator, as he is both a: wearing terminator armour and b: he has the word terminator in his title. what do you guys think? thanks, biglou. henrywalker
unless i'm missing something there is no difference whatsoever between the two. same stats same rules etc. if theres a problem call one of the other models the justicar Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227704-terminator-justicar/#findComment-2727618 Share on other sites
Chairman_woo
Its because precident to this effect exists in other codexes e.g. Bloodangel sanguinarty noviates not having ascess to the rest of the squads wargear, or even more fundamentaly I guess tactical Sgt's not being able to take heavy or special weapons. In this case I fear they would be correct, if you look most of the options say "any model" (banner etc.). The heavy weapon option is the only one that says "any terminator" instead. Hypareal
I believe they are right. Justicar is a leader of the Squad, He doesn't wear heavy weapon, I believe its obvious: He could not be moving around the battlefield and command his men when he could be at one spot pinning down foes with heavy weapon. And in the Codex at page: 91 where are the options of Terminator squad is: ..., one Terminator may replace....., at the bottom of the options is mention about MC weapon for Justicar. There might be another line (under that about MC weapon), but there isn't any which could change weapon options for Justicar. I believe if Justicar could equip Psycannon, at the line with heavy weapons would be: any model or the special line at the bottom of the options. BrotherWasted
The model's name is "Terminator Justicar", not "Terminator". It's like saying a Space Marine Tactical Sergeant can equip a Plasma Cannon - they can't because they're a Sergeant, not a regular Tactical Marine. haroon
Also, there is no reason to give it to the justicar. He is the first person to die from Perils of the warp. lordsloth
Also, there is no reason to give it to the justicar. He is the first person to die from Perils of the warp. I assume the reason he was asking is because you can mastercraft any of the justicars weapons. (which would be nearly equivalent to an extra shot considering you're likely miss at least once on 4 shots) Some people give their justicar the daemonhammer for exactly that reason. But the NFW are worded as "any model" and as was explained above, the special weapons are not. On a similar topic, is there any limitation on a Paladin Apothecary taking a different Nemesis weapon or other options, naturally he can't take a special, but for the rest? Dont think so, NFW are (i think) always 'any model' in a squad entry. Yes he can take any of the upgrades other than the ranged/special weapons which are worded to work only for paladins. Everything else says one or any model. No issue with the Justicar either as there isn't one. Edit: He could't swap anyway as he dosn't have a storm bolter to trade in anymore due to the narthericum Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227704-terminator-justicar/#findComment-2728205 Share on other sites

Crap I equiped my Noviate with a Meltagun! Well damn...I think I'll be off to buy a new command squad latter, to make up for this blunder.
