OM Inquisitor kit question

When you give an Ordo Malleus inquisitor terminator armour he gets a nemesis daemonhammer. Which is a force weapon. I assume he cannot use the instakill property of the weapon (unless you actually make him a psyker and exchange the stormbolter for the force sword, thus keeping the NDH) but that the NDH's daemonbane property still counts?

Since you do not need to be a Psyker to take Psychic tests (see the Psyker Henchmen - they do not have the Psyker special rule, but can perform a Psychic shooting attack), a non-Psyker Inquisitor can still activate their NDH.

Hmm, the description of force weapons in the 5th edition rulebook says that "the psyker may then take a psychic test to use the weapon's power against etc etc". Which is why I assumed you had to be a psyker to use the instakill power.

I would assume that the henchman psyker entry is just missing a FAQ fix, as the same section in the 5th edition rulebook also discusses powers and perils etc and all seems to assume that the powers are being used by psykers.

I think you would need to be a psyker, because as aforementioned the rule of the force weapon clearly needs to be used by a psyker. However, its still a thunder hammer, not bad in any way.

Dunno. Toughness 3 and a poor invulnerable save. Do you really want this guy to go at i1? With a nemesis force sword he'd be far better, imho. Sadly it doesnt seem to be allowed.

As Freman said, its job is to shoot, and you never want him in melee, ever. There is simply no reason to get him into melee, and with his rather poor stats almost anything he gets into combat with that wants to kill him WILL kill him before he strikes anyway. The good part about having that Hammer is in combat (as it is rather difficult to never get into combat) it immediately makes the Inquisitor a higher-priority target than it usually is, and the more hits targetted at him, the less your other guys get hit.

Do I wish the hammer wasn't compulsory? Sure. But it is. Such is the price to get a Relentless Psycannon cheap HQ with Stubborn on the table....
