captain sox
greetings! I'm trying to do some extra detail on my scout models, and I am having a difficult time with the eyeballs. I don't have problems painting the eyeball white, or even the little pupil. It's they seem too white almost. Do you people 'wash' them in a flesh or brown colour to dull the whiteness? http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq25/ConductorSam/Warhammer%20stuff/Eyeball.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227769-painting-eyeballs/ Share on other sites
Tanhausen
It seems that guys has big eyeballs... My suggestion: paint flesh on the lower part of the eye, basically the pomels. That should help quite a bit... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227769-painting-eyeballs/#findComment-2728401 Share on other sites
captain sox
ah yes... I was debating whether they were too big or not. I'll take your advice and see what happens! Thanks! greatcrusade08
also paint the black pupil an oval shape that touches both the top and bottom edges of the eye, it will give him a more natural look as opposed to 'rabbit in the headlights' or 'smoking too much reefer' Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227769-painting-eyeballs/#findComment-2728506 Share on other sites
pingo
Use an off-white like bleached bone for the white of the eye (and for teeth etc.). Also, keep the eyeballs small. Looks like you've painted them too big there. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227769-painting-eyeballs/#findComment-2729291 Share on other sites
kizzap88
just a little bit of advice, go look at an unpainted head, you can actually see the dot of where the eyeball is. Conandoodle
I find models without painted eyes look just as good (if not better) as those with painted eyes. It's a scale thing. I simply ink mine so they look like a darker crease in the skin. ShinyRhino
Eyes should be the very first thing you paint on a helmetless model. That way you can get the white down with proper coverage, add your pupils, and then use the skintone to edge back the white to the proper shape.
