Im considering doing a Witch Hunters army aswell but as a newbie to army list making i was confused by the buying wargear, basicly do you still have to buy carapace/power armour with other wargear on top of the basic price for a character as i was confused by the fact there is an armour save listed in the profile?

Thanks for any help

No, if a model has a save listed in that codex then it has the relevant armour for that type, so the sisters and =I= lords all possess power armour, the storm troopers, repentia, standard =I= and warrior henchmen all have carapace armour (or equivalent) and the other henchmen walk around in something like a t-shirt. Because it's an old codex though they didn't bother listing where the save comes from like they do with the new books.

The armour in the armoury is so you can upgrade the armour on the other models, so the priest who is normally unarmoured can buy a save and the other models who have a save can upgrade the armour they are currently wearing for the relevant points cost.

To put it simply (why I didn't do this first I've no idea) you only need to buy the armour from the armoury pages if you want a different save to the one listed.

Inquisitors come with carapace armour as standard. You can upgrade thier armour at an aditional points cost.

Carapace armour gives a 4+ armour save not a 3+ so I would say there armoured in power armour not carapce armour maybe in the grey knights codex there only a 4+ but not in the witch hunters one.

The GK codex list =I= as wearing caraprace armor as standard providing the 4+ save. For an additional cost they can upgrade to Power Armor to improve the armor save or furthermore upgrade to Termie armor at the cost of your 1st born and your eternal soul. :P

That seems like a fair price to pay to serve the emperor...

Then it's like I thought grey knight codex has them listed with carapace giving them a 4+ where they have a 3+ in the witch hunters codex which would indicate there already wearing power armour.

WH Codex has Inquisitor Lords in Power Armor (3+), and basic Inquisitors in Carapace (4+). GK Codex doesn't have Inquisitor Lords.

Yeah suppose there is that distinction guess I never bothered to look much at the elite slot one since I didn't realize they had a lower save until you mentioned it and I decided to look for myself after that.

I wouldn't know anything about how there portrayed in the grey knight codex because I don't own it at this moment in time and haven't seen the leaked codex either.
