Jonny Roxtar
Me and a guy from work are getting back into the hobby after a break. Hes gone for the Blood Angels, and Ive decided to pick up the Space Wolves I started last year. After taunting him with a 2000 point 15 man terminator army of doom. I calmed down and made a proper list, but I still want Logan in my list . So needs must I had to get one or build one. I made this. Now before you go look, I am aware that the head I used has a bionic eye. Tbh I never really noticed till Id stuck it in there but I like the head otherwise so lets just say its a temporary augmetic while his other eye is away at the cleaners or something. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/Deusmex/Space%20Wolves/loganwip3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/Deusmex/Space%20Wolves/loganwip2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/Deusmex/Space%20Wolves/loganwip1.jpg It needs some work with greenstuff maybe, total time spent on it is only an hour at the moment so I dont want to rush the big guy. Forté
Looks good apart from the shaft of the axe. Looks a bit misshapen. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227798-i-needed-a-logan-grimnar-so-i-did-this/#findComment-2728855 Share on other sites
Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Excellent model, though I agree that the haft looks a tad bent. Wulfebane
Definitely an angle in the dangle. Otherwise, impressive! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227798-i-needed-a-logan-grimnar-so-i-did-this/#findComment-2729003 Share on other sites
Jonny Roxtar
It is a bit, I think I might shorten it a little too. I have visions of having to carry glue around with me , if I take it anywhere. LPetersson
I like it a lot. I would probably try to find a way to turn one of the axe beards into a hammer instead since it has the dual-abilities... If you ever build True Scale marines, you will take glue everywhere. This Grimnar looks epic. You dont have to call him Logan Grimnar though, if you are worried about the eye. He could be another lord. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/227798-i-needed-a-logan-grimnar-so-i-did-this/#findComment-2729048 Share on other sites
Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I found that finding the right head to use for Grimnar is indeed a task. I will admit that you used my least favorite head form that box, but this is not about what I like and dislike. The Axe Morikai does look a bit too long to me on top of being slightly bent. I do like the wrist mounted bolter with the Sanguinary Guard hand attached. Hans Grimnar, Logans younger brother perhaps??!! Did you pin it? I know its only plastic but pinning it will help. MaveriK
Interesting take on Logan Grimnar. Nice job, my only critiques are the banner pole, I think it's a bit much. The arm pose with the storm bolter, cool but it looks odd for some reason, especially how his fingers are gestured. It's almost as if he's hold up an invisible shield with that hand. The head is alright I guess, wouldn't have been my personal choice, but if since you like it go with it. I just don't like the bearded braids hanging/poking out the way they are, I guess they can represent his extra attacks. Also is the wolf pelt arm going to be attached or will it be as-is? Jonny Roxtar
Some answers. Its sort of pinned, I drilled out the bit attached to the arm and pushed the other bit into the hole. No metal involved like there should be though in normal pinning. The head. Yeah well its not the greatest and Im not 100% sold on it yet.It was the oldest looking grizzled veteran type head I could find. Having looked at the actual Logan model, though Im sure theres another head on the sprues I have which is more alike to the actual model. I shall investigate further. The hanging leg of the pelt is still to be added but will require some trimming and greenstuff due to the storm bolter arms position. The banner, well I thought the whole thing looked a bit squat without it, thats why I added it, although the last pic is at a weird angle which makes it look more squat than it actually is. Also toying with the idea of adding a couple of wolf head decorations to the axe head and something to the left leg. Probably using greenstuff, but Im no expert at that kind of thing, its a challenge, for me anyway. The model is quite busy in places , but I`ll give it a bash and see what happens. oh the hand, I nearly forgot about that. I have a couple of options there. Leave it? or switch it for one that is clenched or one that is pointing? LUPUS FIDELIS
If it were me, (captain overkill), I'd remove the haft, drill out the hand and the axe head and replace it with a shorter length of brass rod. I love building models, I HATE doing it twice. Gotta say though, original and impressive.
