Loyalist
Does anyone know why the standard Land raider in the GK codex has reverted to 10 passengers while in the current SM codex it was upgraded to 12 passengers? Is this a typo? The capacity for the Crusader and Redeemer are the same as in the SM codex. Rindaris
I believe fluff-wise generally the power generators for the TL Lascannons take the extra space in the interior of the Land Raider that a Crusader or Redeemer pattern doesn't require. Maybe the gear for the enhanced crew (psychic pilot and aegis) takes up some of that space. Rules-wise, probably a balance thing. Have to give the vanilla marines some advantages over the specific codexs. dublindawg
Actually when the Space Wolves codex came out a couple of years ago they reverted to having the basic LR capacity at 10 along with the drop pod. There was an article either on their website or in WD that explained that they decided they gave too much capacity in the C:SM and in future codex releases they would correct it going forward. Probably not so much with GK, where every HQ has a suit of termie armor and their squads don't follow the same pattern of special/heavy weapon deployment. But certainly with SW, and even to some degree BA. Both of which have a limit of 10 on their rhinos/landraiders. Seahawk
Rhinos didn't get reduced: SM capacities: Rhino - 10 Razorback - 6 Drop pod - 12 Land Raider - 12 Redeemer - 12 Crusader - 16 GK capacities: Rhino - 10 Razorback - 6 Land Raider - 10 etc It's a Ward mistake that slipped through the system and gave the chumps a better chance at doing anything :D. G.M. Valens
The reason for the extra capacity for the pods and LR in the SM dex is actually very simple. Its not about giving them extra power or anything. It all has to do with how the dex was written. A normal space marine tactical squad can not take any special or heavy weapons unless it is a full 10 man unit. With this being the case you would have to choose between having a meltagun in your unit or having an Indy ride with them. You'll notice that the same sort of restrictions do not apply to the other marine dexes. Just my two cents.
