Project log: The Knights of Woo

So after years of being put off by a lack of modeling options/freedom GW has finally facilitated indulging my long standing facination with Grey knights and while I'm at it inject a little Iluminati background fluff (also a long standing facination) via the inquisitor, and possibly also the librarian tho there are some issues to work around there as I shall try to discuss later (specificaly any GK being posessed by a greater deamon in the first place).

For now I'm thinking of something along the lines of this at 2000pts to begin with.

1xLibrarian

5xPaladins

10x Terminator

10x Strike squad

1x Inquisitor & shooty henchmen

1x Vindicare

1x Psyfleman

1x Dreadknight

Seems like a nice fluffly mix of units droping out of deepstrike to support an inquisitor, I'll post a propper army list at somepoint in the future.

Anyway on to the models:

So far I have 5 Paladins and a Dreadknight on the go, hopefully I'll have them more or less done by the end of the month so I can pick up some strikesquad and terminator boxes to get started on the troops.

Some of the arms and torsos got swaped around after that pic as you will see in the following photos (I cant help myself, if something isn't quite right to me about the pose my models tend to get riped apart and re assembled).

For more information on how I re positioned the Dreadknight I direct you to my thread Here

1st stage is to paint them all over in Chainmail, followed by a medium wash of asurmen blue

Next Stage is to drubrush the armour plates with chainmail, followed by some Mithrill silver on the more exposed surfaces. (the one on the left below has only had chainmail, the one on the right has had the mithrill silver too)

Here's the squad after they have all had a full drybrush

More on the Gold etc. Later....

The Dreadknight is basicaly the same painting proscess but the "working parts" were simply painted chainmail, edge highlighted with mithrill and washed generously with badab black.

After Drybrush

As he stands now, the gold looks crap because its unfinished and the silver looks soooooooo much better once you do the final mithrill silver edge highlight, which I usually leave untill last, but in this case have started (but far from finished) the silver highlight on this last couple pics just to see how it looked (only on the head and upper/top of the DK body). He also had a head swap, I didn't dislike the previous head, but In a fit of madness one night I decided the apothecary helmet would look better & more practical with its fishbowl lenses. The red is more or less done and is started the final gold highlight on the heavy incinerator, again just to see how it would look so the rest of the gold still looks a bit dull/bronzy compared to the finished effect.

HDR photography FTW! ^

More to come as it gets done, I'll try to go over the other bits of painting and or fluff as I go on if people are interested.

the models look great, but i see a couple areas where you have one problem... the bane of plastics...

MOLD LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The big one is the Paladin's Psylinser. But you can see some of the connection points where the storm bolters came off the sprue as well... Great on the paint tho, extremely impressive
